Constipation

Colon Cancer
Dr. Mueller specializes in laparoscopic-assisted colon surgery for benign and malignant disease, anal physiology testing for chronic constipation, and fecal incontinence. She also specializes in anal rectal ultrasound, sphincter saving techniques for rectal cancer and surgery for inflammatory bowel disease and screening colonoscopy for colon cancer.
Endoscopy
The fellows are directly responsible to staff and care for patients two hours per week every Monday morning at the Outpatient Center for Surgery. This is part of the ORHS / Dept of Surgery. Patients are referred for diagnosis, treatment, pre-operative, and post-operative consultation. The residents work up the patients, then present their findings and a treatment plan to the attending. The residents are responsible for pre-operative and post-operative follow up on the patients they treat, including endoscopy and surgery. They also maintain patient lists noting diagnosis and treatment plan.
Cancer Care

Ultrasound
Dr. Gallagher specializes in laparoscopic-assisted colon surgery and robotic resection for benign and malignant disease, anal physiology testing for chronic constipation, and fecal incontinence. He also specializes in anal rectal ultrasound, sphincter-saving techniques for rectal cancer and surgery for inflammatory bowel disease.
Radiology
The Orlando Health Cancer Institute became NAPRC-accredited in 2022. Our multidisciplinary rectal cancer tumor board is held on a weekly basis. These conferences include faculty from colorectal surgery, medical oncology, radiation oncology, radiology, and GI pathology. Together, all rectal cancer cases are reviewed in detail for treatment planning, monitoring, and post-op evaluation. The many intricacies of rectal cancer management are discussed at length, offering the fellows a unique and multi-faceted learning opportunity in cancer care. The fellows are expected to participate in presenting and helping to formulate treatment plans on their respective patients.

General Surgery
The Colon and Rectal Surgery Residency program is a one-year clinical residency program affiliated with the Colon & Rectal Clinic of Orlando, a private practice, and Orlando Health, an 800-bed community-based teaching hospital and Central Florida’s only Level 1 Trauma Center. For over 25 years, we have been an accredited fellowship, recognized by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). The residency training program participates in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) to fill these positions. Through our affiliations with Orlando Health, the University of Central Florida College of Medicine, and the Florida State University College of Medicine, our fellows will have the opportunity to work closely with general surgery residents, medical students, and even undergraduates. We are accredited for three (3) ACGME fellows.

Robotic Surgery
The Ochsner Journal. He is an expert reviewer for C-SATS, an international program aimed at enhancing surgical techniques through video review and education. His interests include minimally invasive/robotic surgery for benign and malignant disease, including offering sphincter-preserving surgery for low rectal cancers when possible, surgical education, and surgical simulation.
