Checkmat BJJ Tampa offers its students the honor of training with World Class BJJ Black Belt Instructors including Professor Leondro Ratinho, Professor Juan Reppin, Rodrigo Conceição, and Professor Jefferson Emanuel Borros. The great thing about training at Chekmat is that the professors rotate every few months, which enables the students to continually learn and evolve into Champions. Additionally, our professors are in alliance with the top Brazilian Jui Jitsu team in America – Checkmat Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. They have trained under Ricardo Viera, Founder of the Checkmat BJJ Organization as well as many other BJJ greats. Checkmat's name was chosen in reference to the chess tactics and strategies that are very similar to Jiu-Jitsu: every move is important and leads the competitor to victory. Our students have the ability to train in traditional BJJ (Gi) and non-traditional BJJ (No Gi) which further enhances their skills.
