I have been taking my dogs to Dr. B ' s office for over twelve years. We have always been given excellent treatment. The doctor and staff have been warm, friendly, informative and compassionate. I love my dogs more than anything, and trust them with their lives

This office deserves" 5 stars" for an arrogance and unprofessionalism of some of its staff.

Dr. Buchalter seems to be carring and pleasant, yet somewhat aloof and distant. Just a reminder: you need to insist to see him during the visit. Othervise , a vet tech will do everything that he / she deems necessary. Nobody will ask your opinion, explain you what and why a procedure / treatment/ or medication are given to your pet. And you will never get Dr. B on the phone: his guardian dog, the phone person, won't let you do this. This office is managed extremely poorly and you are at mercy of its front desk staff that "knows it all".You have no rights there. You must do what they say, even what they say is plain stupid.

I had called the office to board my 10 - month-old dog. A month before that, during the routine visit, I had been told that the dog was fully vaccinated and that I was welcome to board him any time I wanted. Well, this wasn't the case when I tried to make a reservation for 2 days boarding. The phone person told me that Lepto vaccine is required for boarding and that my dog will have to get one when I drop him off.

He said it was the clinic owner's policy and that if I disagree, I don't have to use the clinic. My attempts to reason that narcissistic and arrogant young male were unsuccessful. He clearly enjoyed his power: would let me speak to the doctor, put me on lonfg holds 3 times, and, at the end lied to me ( he did not fax me my dog's vaccination record that he promissed to do the same day ). He had no knowledge about this innefective, controversial, and quite dangerous vaccine. He refused to understand that it takes weeks to develop protective IGG ( immunity ) and that vaccinating the dog on the day of boarding will not protectit, is likely to add to the stress of being away from his owner for the first time, and that my pet may be having some imminological problems.

This was my first experience dealing with vet clinics on South Shore of Long Island.

I hope there are different, more humane andbetter managed vet offices that employ stuff without personality disorders.

We have been taking both our pups to them for years, but for the last few, we had cut back due to financial situations. All we wanted was to talk to the Doctor before we took our Sara in. We had an emergency and no one answered at their office, so we took her to another recommended Vet. She was diagnosed with cancer. Called Dr. Barry Buchalter's (Dr. B) office to talk to him and the woman (Lucy) on the phone was extremely rude. She talked down to us and talked about Sara like she was a "product" and not part of our family. She wouldn't even leave a message for the Doctor. What happened to your practice, Dr. B? And this woman Lucy, should not even be near the Customer Service Industry let alone a Doctor's Office. I would never visit them again. I was very disappointed.

They care much more about money then the animals they treat ! Dr. B and his partner have turned their prectice into a money making no matter what !
