Carsten Institute offers various courses for students in the salon, spa and beauty industries. Its cosmetology course comprises instruction in safety and health, anatomy and physiology, hair analysis, hair and scalp disorders and diseases, hair cutting and shaping, hair styling, chemical restructuring, and skin and nail care procedures. The institute s esthiology program, offered for 16 weeks, features training in massage, manual and electrical facial, packs and masks, light therapy, cosmetic and artificial eyelash application, and disinfection procedures. Through its Aveda Institute, Carsten provides training in fashion photography. The institute provides practical and technical skills to students through demonstrations, lectures and hands-on experience. Carsten Institute has branches in New York City and Tempe, Ariz.
