THE ABSOLUTE WORST POSSIBLE EXPERIENCE:
*If you want them to sit around while you’re paying them by the hour...
*If you want your furniture damaged, items dropped, broken and smashed...
*if you want items lost or stolen that never show up or arrive at your new location...
*if you want the WORST possible support team, that doesn’t respond to emails or phone calls and then calls you a liar...
*If you want a company that takes ZERO accountability for their wrong-doings...

If all of those things apply to you and your move, then Imperial Moving is your company.

If you value your possessions, your time and your money, I would suggest looking elsewhere.

From the courteous, initial inquiry & supplying me with helpful knowledge I was able to commit for my move. The company complied with my numerous calls weighing in on alternatives & options due to my scheduled move happened on pre Winter official Saturday. Despite awful weather to do anything, particularly moving, Herman & associate were absolutely magical & professional! They were efficient, magnificent & all done within move window. Could not, even now, believe they took care of business & moved me in to my new abode outside of the city. I highly recommend & commend Imperial!

I absolutely love and recommend Imperial Moving & Storage! I saw them moving a family out of a building nearby and they were so careful and diligent with all the boxes that I decided to call them when I moved. Thank goodness I did! They had someone come and do a walk-through estimate and gave me an AMAZING price (the lowest of all the companies I called too). The best part is that the price was guaranteed. As in, when they got to my place to do the actual move, the estimated price is what I paid. They didn't try to haggle me or anything. The team I had was absolutely incredible. German was the headman and he had Tony, Alexandre, and Nika with him. These four men were kind, helpful, hardworking, and really cared about making sure our move was easy, fast, and efficient. I couldn't have asked for a better team and a better moving experience, and I've moved 7 times in the past 8 years! Thank you Imperial!!!

Please be careful when you make any agreement with them because they lie on you face and have hidden charges which you are not aware of until the move is done.

I was told a fixed amount before the move and when the movers arrive, they told me that they will charge $50 for extra boxes that I had and that will be it. After the move, they told me $100 more will be charged for extra time and I will have to pay for tolls to wherever they are going, doesn't matter to NY or California. Also, They told me that $50 security that I gave them will be account for in the final bill but they did not. I am disputing the charge on my card with my credit card company.

Just BEWARE, they are NOT HONEST.

They arrived 4 hours late, we missed our window to move in to our new building, on the day we had planned, so a 1 day move took 2 days, and they still haven't reassembled all the furniture.

Worse still, they left boxes of documents in the rain to get soaked. The number of pieces of furniture damaged is ridiculous. Luckily we have insurance to cover the actual cost of the damage, because their compensation policy at $0.30c a lb is laughable.

Before booking consider what your belongings are worth to you, because they aren't worth a great deal to Imperial Movers.

Warning –this moving company is a complete scam. They are dishonest and try to trick you into paying cash for undeclared charges.

My movers showed up today towards the latter end of their time slot and everything started out fine. However, when trying to disassemble my bed, one of the movers struggled a bit with a screw on the bed because the screw head had been worn down. He came to me and told me he’d likely have to leave the entire bed frame behind. I went and found a wrench for them (why didn’t they have this when doing a move??) and helped remove the screw myself. Before leaving my apartment, the movers took payment from me for the agreed amount of $500 in credit card. However, they also told me I owed them the amount for tolls to NJ, in CASH. When I asked how much this would amount to, the mover told me $60!! He made a call to his “friend” at the company asking whether I could pay in credit, and I was told it had to be cash. I was not aware that tolls could be this high since in my experience driving to-from NJ, I would have expected it to be about $20. I now know that trucks are much pricier, but I think it’s only fair that amounts this high be disclosed prior to signing the contract instead of being left to a surprise. Luckily, I had the cash on hand and paid them $60. They did not provide me a receipt. They asked if I would pay gratuity and I said twice that it would be paid at the destination.

I was having my furniture shipped to my elderly mother’s home in NJ. To be safe, I called up the moving company and explained to them the situation with the tolls and that I was surprised that an amount this large was demanded upfront in cash. They told me that tolls to NJ are typically about $50 and that I’d get an invoice after the trip. I informed the representative that I had paid $60 and that I was not given a receipt. The representative told me that he would speak with the movers. I said I’d just subtract the $10 form the tip I planned to give the movers.

When the movers got to my mother’s home, they struggled once again to assemble the furniture. They tried to force a small 4-person table through the door even though I requested at the origin for them to remove the legs. My mother had to provide them a screwdriver to get it through her front door and after removing the legs they did not put it back together. Finally, they demanded another $10 in tolls saying what I had given them was not enough. Since when do tolls to NJ cost $70?!? They continued to harass my elderly mother for the $10 and refused to leave the house until she signed a piece of paper saying we owed them $10 when once again there was NO WAY for us to verify their claims on the toll quantities. My mother signed the form and provided a meager tip to get them to leave the house.

In my 4 years in NYC, I have moved many times and this was by far the WORST experience I had with any moving company. I highly advise that all customers steer clear of Imperial movers. Take your business elsewhere. When researching my move, I had found 4 companies around +/- $20 of the price I paid, some of whom included tolls. Had I known about Imperial and their “toll” chargers, I would have taken my business elsewhere. Now I feel obliged to warn others and spare them of these frustrations and fraudulent charges.

Incredible moving team that helped me move. Very friendly guys, they honestly did handle my belongings with care. I had this delicate china set that was passed down to me from way back from my grandmother and I was so afraid that it will ruin or even break! but, I told the team and they told me that if I can to move all the fragile stuff to the side so they will be extra careful with it. when the time came they packed it lastly on to the truck and it was the first to unpack as well. The men that helped me was too sweet! will hire them in a heartbeat if God forbid have to move again

I used Imperial to move from a Manhattan apartment to a house in Virginia, and the experience was mostly negative. I had several valuable artworks, and I knew that those would need to be wrapped in Tyvek rather than shrink wrap or anything else that the paint might adhere to. Multiple times before the move, I checked with the office to make sure the movers would bring Tyvek, and I even put it in the contract. On the day of the move, they showed up without it and had no idea what I was talking about. What should have been about a 3-4 hour loading process - and I was on a very tight schedule - turned into 8 hours of stress and endless phone calls between the office (who also appeared not to have any idea what Tyvek - a standard product used for wrapping artwork - was, despite having agreed to provide it!) and me. I ended up having to find a Tyvek purveyor myself and arrange for the delivery of it, while the movers and I waited. The moving team leader used the wait time to tell me repeatedly about the huge tip he and his guys were expecting! Because of all this extra time, I didn't make it to my destination until 3 a.m. the next day.

Much worse was to come, though. The movers had scratched the floor in the apartment I moved out of, but I didn't make an issue of that because I knew the purchaser planned to redo the floors anyway. However, in the VA house, which is an antique farmhouse, they completely broke the floor. They dropped a heavy frame on it - I saw this happen - breaking a large hole through the floorboards. Because the floorboards were original to the house and it is an awkward area at the bottom of a flight of stairs, it was extremely difficult and expensive to repair.

The movers initially claimed it wasn't their fault they broke the floor because the floor was old. I pointed out that it may be old, but the previous owner had managed to move out the week before with just as much stuff as I had and no damage to the house. I contacted Imperial, who told me to file a claim and it would be taken care of. So, I sent photos, filled out a lot of forms, etc, only to be told by the insurers that the movers aren't liable for damage to the house. Nowhere on any of the documentation Imperial sent me, by email or on paper, does it say this. I called Imperial to ask what was going on and she said it was implied and I should have bought additional insurance to cover that. Needless to say, no one from Imperial had told me this at any previous point (they told me only that if I wanted a higher level of coverage for my belongings - not the property - that I would need separate insurance). I asked why, in this case, she had told me to file a claim, but she didn't have an answer to that other than ''We wanted you to be happy''. Finally they said that although they weren't liable, they would offer me a $120 refund in exchange for signing a form agreeing not to hold them responsible and not to publish anything negative about them. The actual damage repair costs for me were closer to $1500. I obviously chose to warn others about this experience rather than be muzzled!

The only good thing I can really say about Imperial was that the price for the move was relatively low, but of course it ends up costing you much more if they can do unlimited damage to your house without compensating you...

Stay away! Imperial's unprofessional and rude customer service compels me write a review to warn anyone potentially looking to hire their services. I would urge anyone who wants a stress free move and to be treated with dignity and respect to STAY AWAY FROM IMPERIAL for the following reasons.

1- THEY WERE 3.5 HOURS LATE - and we had to make multiple calls to Imperial to get the crew to come. They were scheduled to arrive at 10:30 am...and did not show up till 1:30 pm. We had booked the elevator in the building we were moving to from 1 - 4 pm and had to call the building and request an extension to our 4 pm move in deadline. We almost had to reschedule the move to the next day...it was extremely stressful and unwarranted hassle to deal with Imperial.

2- THE CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS EXTREMELY RUDE, DISRESPECTFUL, AND UNPROFESSIONAL. We had to call them multiple times. The first time I called at 10:45 am - the guy rudely informed me that they never give a fixed time - they always give a one hour window and that the moving crew would be there between 10:30 - 11:30 am. This was news to me as I was assured that the truck would be there by 10:30 am. Anyways - 11:30 am comes and goes - still no truck and no call from Imperial. IN THE GREED TO MAXIMIZE THEIR PROFITS THEY HAD SCHEDULED ANOTHER MOVE RIGHT BEFORE OUR MOVE / CONFLICTING WITH OUR MOVE TIME. When we urged them to send a crew asap - we got replies like - "THERE IS NOTHING I CAN DO", "AT LEAST I AM CALLING YOU BACK - OTHER PEOPLE DON'T EVEN BOTHER DOING THAT". When a driver called me at 12:30 pm informing me he was still at least an hour away - and I called imperial - they finally decided to send some other crew. At this point if the movers could not be there in the next 15-20 mins we would have had to reschedule the move to the next day. Why couldn't they have just done so earlier?

3- BEWARE OF UNINFORMED CHARGES - We had a unwrapped coffee table with glass top and another piece of glass which we had already securely wrapped in blankets. When the guy saw the table top and the glass wrapped in blanket - he offered to wrap them up in "china" boxes. He did not mention there were any extra charges/fees for doing so. When it was time to pay - he informed us that we need to pay $40 EXTRA for the two cardboard wrappings. When we called the customer service to discuss - some guy who stated his name as Tony - (though the moving crew said they did not know any Tony - so maybe he was not sharing his real name) - was extremely rude - he started reading off the contract when we stated that we were not informed about the extra charges. Not only that when we mentioned how late they were he was extremely rude stating "AT LEAST YOUR STUFF IS IN YOUR APARTMENT NOW...ISN'T IT".

Oh - and yes they still asked us for TIPS!

Overall a very negative experience with a lot of stress and unnecessary hassle - all that you try to avoid on a move day by booking a professional moving company. Dealing with the extremely rude customer service on top of all the delays was the worst part. My experience with the company leads me to believe that all they care about is MAKING MONEY and they don't care a damn about their customers. Bad business practice for sure.

This company broke our marble dining room table, lost a box of wine, dented new wood floors upon move in, scratched numerous walls, and used local labor from craigslist who came to our home with actual dirt all over his pants.

The issue isn't really any of that as all the problems are solvable, the real issue is that they are taking absolutely no accountability for the issue. Don't take the bait on the "small family company" pitch, they are no different than the big (and more overtly) sleazy companies.

Buyer definitely beware with Imperial, everyone makes mistakes, its how a company owns up to them that makes them good. These guys didn't own up to anything.

FREE RODENT DROPPINGS AND RAT NESTS WITH LONG-TERM STORAGE

*this is a repost from my Yelp review of this company*

I strongly recommend that anyone looking to use this companies services reconsiders it before making a big mistake.

I've had my things in long-term storage in one of their warehouses for over a year now and I have only been disappointed by just about all aspects of this companies services and customer service.

I recently went to pick up a bulk of my belongings from their storage facility and had my furniture broken, scratched, stepped on and tossed around by the crew that they had me pay for. Aside from the free damage to my belongings they offered a free rat's nest and plenty of rodent droppings within my furniture and boxes.. I'm surprised that they didn't give me a free pet with all these additional free services.

Another issue is their billing/customer service.. I have to call them ten times to have one person call me back. I've heard "give me your name and phone number" at least 50 times since I've started using their services and only heard back from them once.. I have to constantly call to resolve billing issues and handle appointments for pickups.

They didn't have my ex's card on file (we had agreed that she would handle the storage fee's upon our breakup) for a few months and never bothered to contact me with regards to the resolving this issue. Once I find out that my storage wasn't being paid, I immediately contacted them and had to call at least 10 times before I could get it resolved. The resolution resulted in me getting charged a lump sum whereas that wasn't what me and their customer service person had agreed upon (I only asked for an amount before they charged my card and they failed to do so).

I had spoken to the owner directly on the phone and he promised a discount on the next storage charge as compensation for the billing issues, and I found that I was not charged less for the significantly less amount of furniture that I had in their space, but that I was charged more than when I had twice as much stuff there.

I am very upset by how this company has treated me and want share my story with potential customers.. Please beware...

I had an incredibly complicated move in which I had to be out of my old apartment on a Saturday and in my new place on a Monday. I wasn't able to plan anything until the day before my move, and was turned down by a number of moving companies who were already fully booked. In a panic, I called the team at Imperial Moving. They were not only incredibly accommodating, they offered to keep my furniture in storage through the weekend. The move was quick & painless, and on top of it all, the price was about half what other moving companies had quoted me. Totally worth it. These guys made the pain that is moving a lot more bearable.

Imperial was recommended to me by a friend who used Them a couple of years ago.

When I called the office, they gave me a a quote in real time, sending it to my email.

A day later they called me with a better rate, which was really good, so I booked the move with them.

On move day the movers started off by letting me know that I need to pay them %20 tip - not a good sign.

Once they start working I realize those guys doesn't know how to do the job right: they are being careless with boxes labeled fragile, they put the TV in a big box without protecting it, and although they did cover some of the furniture with blankets, that was done without protecting the corners, and sure enough both my dresser and my antique bookcase were damaged.

When I called the office to ask about the claim process, they told me that I'm only getting 30 cents per pound - so I didn't even file a claim with them, why bother for $30.

A few months goes by - and now Imperial is asking me to like them on facebook, promising me $25 discount off my move for a like. No way Imperial, I learned my lesson and next time I'm using professional movers.

Overall

Very pleasant to deal with from start to finish. I hired Imperial Moving for a small job relocating furniture and other items from one location in Queens to another location several blocks away. I decided on them after reading several reviews and pricing some other local movers. I left a $50.00 deposit and booked a date. They were very thorough, calling to confirm locations, price, etc. they showed up on time, were genuinely nice, extremely professional, fast, and very courteous. They were very careful when taking apart a one of a kind bookcase and bringing it to the new location where they put it back together upon arrival. All in all a very stress free move. They informed me about the possibility of parking ticket fees, and added cost for tolls. Payment in cash was preferred . I highly recommend them.

I have read many of these reviews and I have no idea what company they are discussing. I am giving 1 star because I cannot give less than that. Movers were 6 hours late, CHARGED us for the time they were in traffic (somehow it is my fault they decided to leave in rush hour). Finished packing the house at 11pm. Implied things would break if I did not give a 20% tip. I gave 15% - things were broken. Claims go unpaid. Want proof they broke the items during shipping. They changed the delivery date and we were unable meed "Their needs", so they were kindly able to get us a short term storage locker 60 miles away from our new home for only an additional $145.53, so we were unable to inspect the items as they were moved off the truck. They want pictures of the broken items, then they need more pictures, 400 pound antique china cabinet now has 3 legs and is missing a section of the side after it fell over, and they are only willing to settle for $100. I was telling them to wrap the cabinet differently, but don't try to tell the guys how to wrap up the items because they don't speak much English unless it's about finance, then the one guy is suddenly fluent. Under quoted on phone by about 1,500. ADDED IN TOLLS! Save your money and just buy new things when you get there.

Stay away from Imperial Moving

I recently used Imperial Moving and selected them based on price and the expectations set with me by their sales guy. Their pricing was significantly higher both by how they represented when they start charging per hour and when they stop. Also, they added in additional fees. The overall price ended up being about 30% higher than it should have been based on the original expectations. By the way, my expectations were set and verified by 4 different scheduling representatives. I was surprised unfortunately.

Do not use them.

Big scam and fraud company

They took my debit card just to give me an estimate. They said they will not charge until I sign an agreement. They also said I can cancel my reservation within 5 days. I called moving services on the same day and asked them to cancel my reservation. Within an hour they charged me deposit through my debot card number which I gave them for reservation.I was keep calling them. Since last 4 days I am keep calling them to get my deposit back but they are not picking up my calls and not replying me either. I lost my money and never got any services. Please be careful with them. They are big big scam and fraud ...
