Primary Care
Changing to a new primary care doctor is typically an easy process of filling out a PCP change form. PCP change forms may be provided to you by our front desk staff. You may also call member services using the phone number on the back of your insurance card.
Ear Infections
Vaccine prevents bacterial infection of the lungs(pneumonia), blood(bacteremia) and brain/spinal cord(meningitis). Known to decrease occurrence of ear infections. Possible side effects: redness, swelling and tenderness at injection site, fever, fussiness, irritability.

Ask your child what kind of support they need and be ready to figure out how to give them that support. They might be too young to answer some of the questions but never too young to feel supported. For an older child or teen, ask them if they want to learn about any community-based or online LGBTQ+ groups as well as if they want out to reach out to us here at Tribeca Pediatrics. Check in with them about their mental health, and whether they have specific questions for their medical provider, especially as they enter puberty. Be prepared that you may be their first, and their best example of what it means to be their own LGBTQ+ health advocate.

X rays are used to diagnose fractures, and they’re also helpful for viewing a child’s lungs and other soft tissue. You may be hesitant about subjecting your child to the radiation produced during the procedure. Used infrequently, X rays are extremely safe, and the benefits gained from the information they provide far outweigh the possible risk of radiation. If your doctor recommends an X ray, do not hesitate. Of course, repetitive X rays are to be avoided, because the cumulative effect of many irradiations can be harmful, but even CT scans, which consist of a series of X rays, are considered perfectly safe. MRIs, or magnetic resonance imaging scans, do not expose a child to any radiation; they use magnetic fields, which are harmless.
