General Info: Demos is a nonpartisan public policy research and advocacy organization. Headquartered in New York City, it works with advocates and policymakers to enhance the economic, democratic and educational development of individuals throughout the United States. Demos programs focus on the strengthening of democracy in the U.S. through the reduction of barriers to voter participation and encouragment civic engagement. It conducts inequality analysis, policymaking idea building and research studies. The organization works with young adults and financially deprived families to achieve economic security. Additionally, Demos operates a books project that supports the works of fellows, staff and affiliates who are engaged in public debate by publishing new books related to critical social issues.
