Overall
Blows Sucre away

This place does not present itself in the same glam manner as its neighbor (and primary competition) Sucre, but their product is by far the best of their dessert niche.

They make all of their gelato from scratch (that is, without a 'base' - have you ever been to an ice cream shop and while all the flavors taste different, there's something that they all have in common? usually a light vanilla flavor that most places just mix the flavors into so everything kinda tastes the same). As far as I know they are the only place in New Orleans that does not use a base as a shortcut.

Their cookies, also homemade, are outstanding, decadent and fresh. They drizzle syrup on the oatmeal cookies at some point in the process. I don't much like oatmeal cookies, but they're outstanding.

The espresso is of a notably higher quality than the local coffeeshops (ones I have loved for years) - i.e. CC's (close call) Rue, PJs (blows their espresso away).

They use as much green technology and disposable products as possible. For the environmentally responsible, this is a pretty unique distinction. These people basically spend extra money to make sure their footprint is just a little smaller.

Never had their actual food, but as well done as their coffee / dessert items are, I'm very willing to try it if I ever make it there during a proper meal time.

In short, try this place. Not flashy like the place next door, but superior in the common services.
