Without permission they died out dogs hair pink; it is a new puppy, a small shih tzu. They have taken away precious months of pictures and joy with this ridiculous dye job, we are angry and disgusted. The manager was dismissive and told us he believes his groomer did a great job. We have spent a lot of money to ensure the best care for this animal. Please do not give them your business, you will regret it. Pictures are horrifying, and cruel.

changed

Belladoggie was great when it opened but this place has changed for the drastically. We boarded our angel last year and she did great and we were very pleased, however when we brought her recently for one day she was very stressed. When I went to pick her up I heard a severe dog fight and all of the staff literally running and steaming. Then a girl ran out and said "this always f... Happens!!!!". I was stunned! Then when our angel got home she would not eat and pooped all over the house. We hired a pet sitter and were much happier.

Overall

Not the spa experience in the least. And they don't seem to care.

I've boarded my two labradors several times at Belladoggie. I liked Belladoggie because of their location, the good, upscale impression they give and the fact that they have a pool for my water loving dogs to swim. I had heard various negative things about Belladoggie, but dismissed them as the rantings of overly sensitive folks. Until Memorial Day weekend.

My girls stayed one night. When I collected them on Monday their two dog beds (which Belladoggie encourages you to bring, along with any other personal items that might make your pet more comfortable) were handed to me in a plastic bag with no explanation. I also noticed when they called for my dogs they were retrieved from "Rehab 1." I wasn't sure what this meant as they usually have a normal room. It was only when I got home and unpacked that I realized their beds were soaked in urine. I removed and washed the covers, but the insides were beyond the capabilities of my home washer. Both my dogs showed signs of distress and wouldn't eat dinner or treats. And during the night they pooped in the house, which never happens unless they're ill.

I went by the next day and brought the "innards" of the two dog beds. A nice attendant took the beds and assured me the manager would call. By the end of the next day I got no call.

So I went by again and happened to catch the general manager. She was defensive, said she'd ask around to see what happened and she'd call me the next day. She also reminded me of the fine print in their boarding agreement that says they take no responsibility for personal effects. So not the point. She was all over the place, suggesting maybe another dog was put in with my dogs in the smaller, rehab room and that sometimes these dogs are less ambulatory and sick or old dogs have accidents. What?! Not acceptable on so many levels. She did ask if she could try to clean the beds in their industrial washer. I said sure. I left. And again, I got no call. My dogs were both still showing signs of anxiety. One started eating, but one did not. I took her to the vet. He put her on an antibiotic and said she probably caught something (maybe from the old, sick dog rooming in the broom closet with her! Or maybe the room hadn't been cleaned properly from a previous sick pet).

Obviously, the issue is not just replacing two dogs beds, (but that would've been a nice place to start) but that either...

1. My dogs were left unattended and unable to go out for such a long time that they were forced to eliminate on their own beds. My dogs are mature, seven year olds and have been fully house broken since they were puppies. If they peed on their own beds, they had to have been neglected for a long time.

2. Another dog peed on their beds. Meaning my dogs were not kept in a room of their own as Belladoggie promises. The two beds were soaked, not just marked as if a dog passed by and lifted a leg. Whatever happened went on for a while.

My dogs returned from Belladoggie NOT rested, NOT relaxed and by all evidence not closely cared for. The staff either didn't know or didn't care while they had them. I'm sure they overbooked and overextended themselves. When this was brought to their attention they showed no real regard for my dogs, my concerns or my loss of property. I haven't heard NOTHING from Belladoggie since this. They have my money and they just don’t care.

My experience with Belladoggie was NOT that of a dog spa. My dogs would've gotten better treatment being kenneled at the vet. And the lack of even a shred of concern is alarming. I've heard rumors that this place is in so much trouble with former customers that their attitude is "if you want to sue me, get in line." We will not be back and we will not recommend them to any other pet owner.

Overall

I won't be back.

I used to love this place, but after so many problems the last few months I don't feel safe bringing my dogs back.

When boarding they were not given their medicine. Twice. After the first time I was promised it would never happen again, and told they had new proceedures and checks in place. Despite whatever their new proceedures were, my written instructions, confirming with their staff that the medicine requirements were entered into their computer and reminding them the dogs had to get their medicine --- the dogs were not given their medicine. The dogs also did not get the treats or all the food they were supposed to receive. The treats, food and medicine were all returned to me when I picked the dogs up. The only explanation I was given was that they are shortstaffed.

During a grooming one of my dogs got clipper burn, neither had their ears cleaned or glands expressed. Their legs and bellies were a mess of matts. This time the explanation was that they have problems keeping groomers, this particular groomer is no longer there and they would give me a refund. I am still waiting for that refund, despite numerous requests and reminders.

The last couple of times I picked the dogs up they were brought out either without their leashes and harnesses on, or with them on incorrectly. I ended up trying to hold on to and get the leashes and harnesses on both dogs in the middle of a public area. The last time there wasn't even an apology. I was told that there are different types of harnesses etc so the staff can't be expected to know how to put them all on - and training them to do so correctly wasn't a priority. When I pointed out it isn't safe to have dogs in a public area with doors to the street opening and closing when the dogs are not securely on leashes, I was just told they are busy and shortstaffed.

It is so sad to see a place that used to be great go like this. Guess this is what happens when they are on their 4th manager in 6 months and the owner won't return a client's calls or emails.

I will not be back.

MY DOGS LOVE BELLADOGGIE!!!!! Harry, my Great Pyrenees, has never liked day care or boarding. He likes to be home. He is an older dog and set in his ways. But after a couple of stays at Bella Doggie he is totally different. He get all excited when we get out of the car in front of Bella Doggie. He wags through the front door and greets everyone there like old friends. I feel so much better about going out of town now that I know Harry and Jack are happy. They truly have a good time at Bella Doggie.

In response to the previous review, I'd just like to point out a few things:

-Belladoggie has a gymnasium, but it is not set up for daycare, used for daycare, nor do people pay to send their dogs to the gymnasium - instead they pay for their dog to be outside

-The "room temperature" for most dogs is in the low 50s, which is DIFFERENT from humans. Dogs' paw pads are not nearly as sensitive as our "bare feet" and thus being out in the 40s is brisk but pleasant for most dogs; many short-coated dogs come with coats or sweaters from their owners

-During the Christmas rush, the facility is practically at capacity, meaning that the employees have to hustle to care for all the dogs, and the "lack of supervision" is abnormal and, most likely, associated with that rush and not what you would have seen had you been spying over your fence on an average day

-During the hot season, I know for a fact there are "kiddie pools" in the yards for the dogs to cool off and splash around in, and when it is raining there is a covered area in the yards. Please don't neglect these facts when writing a review.

-Dogs' parents spend money to make sure that their dogs are able to socialize outside, not sit silently alone in a room or kennel all day - if they wanted that they would have just left their dogs at home. Dogs bark! They play, they scrap, and they socialize! A hot or cold day or rain doesn't mean the whole operation gets shut down, but I know from employees that they do adjust their practices in cases of extreme weather.

-The business is not without faults, but overall I have found it to be a place with nice facilities that takes care of the individual needs of your dog, regardless of any quirks, physical limitations, or attitude problems. The employees for the most part are nice, helpful, and trying to do their best.

We love Belladoggie! I am so ...

We love Belladoggie! I am so happy to find a place that takes care of my dog like she were their own. They have gotten used to her and her personality and that is something every dog owner should take note to when leaving them over night. I recommend belladoggie to everyone. It truly is the BEST place in New Orleans. We tried Camp Bow Wow and they were WAY over crowded and had mulitpe instances where my dog was put in "time out" and they had no logical reason why. I am so glad Belladoggie is here now!
