Kern County Aging and Adult Services, located in Bakersfield, Calif., offers a wide range of programs and services to seniors and persons with disabilities. Its Senior Information and Referral Program provides services, such as meals-on-wheels, home health services, transportation and legal services, case management, and income tax preparation. It also offers homeowner and renter assistance program, property tax postponement program, reduced-fee fishing licenses, community resource and service listings, and utility rebate assistance and information. The Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program provides free assistance with Medicare problems and other health insurance issues. Kern County Aging and Adult Services protective services division offers protection to individuals that are at risk or vulnerable to abuse or undue influence. The department s In-Home Supportive Services program offers housecleaning, meal preparation and cleanup, laundry, grocery shopping, feeding, bowel and bladder care, bathing, grooming, dressing, mobility and transfer assistance, and paramedical care.
