To make it brief, my wife was brought a $10 glass of wine, a good poor but unfortunately it smelled like it was two thirds wine and one third dishwasher disinfectant. It was exchanged. Now comes the bad part. The food for the four of us took almost 45 minutes to arrive. My wife's dish was bass stuffed with artichokes. It was served whole with a single piece of artichoke, not stuffed and looked like it still had the hook in it. Not wanting to take a chance of eating bad fish and spending the rest of the weekend with food poisoning we informed the server, who promptly told us she would get the manager. Fifteen minutes later and obviously in no rush as the rest of the food got cold, the manager, who also doubles as the bar tender came over and informed us the "policy" was to not take it back. Very surprising but the "manager" didn't seem to really care. Eventually, the table was cleared EXCEPT for the rotting fish in front of my wife, when she was asked if she wanted a to-go box … WHAT????? Even my otherwise wonderful and care free spouse was aghast. A difficult task to get her upset.
Bill comes … $24.00 worth of uneaten Lake Norman bass was still on the bill.
After a brief attitude session going nowhere, I asked for the owner. Back came the waitress with a revised bill, at least they would take the fish off, maybe even give us some free desert … WRONG they reduced the price of the smelly fish by 20% (a whopping $4.80) which by the way was still sitting on the table in its glory with its eyes looking up at us. I must admit, after all this I did lose my cool and initially refuse to pay the bill which immediately got me the result I asked for … THE OWNER. Her highness acquiesced and gave us an audience only to reprimand me for making a scene and threatening to call the cops! Hospitality at its finest. No one in this establishment could care less about their customers or reputation. Rotting fish aside, if you want to be treated as a valued customer DO NOT GO HERE … EVER!
