The Book Lady

i've been trading books with carol for years.not only does she have great books at great prices,and takes in a high percentage of the books i bring in ,you get to play with her dog josie while you are there.a great treasure for the city of monroe.being from charlotte i only wish she were either closer to me or open on tuesday a day i regularly come to monroe for an auction.

I love this book store. You can find treasures in there. I bought a stack of books and got home and found out that one of them was autographed. You cant beat that considering I only paid $1.25 for the book. And the best part is you can trade in old books for credit and only spend like $4 for over 10 books. Yeah some books are hard to find but thats part of the fun because then youll find other great books as well.

I love a charming little book store. At least something is still personal and uncompicated, just the way I like things.

I have been going to The Book Lady for years and I've always had GREAT customer service. Either Carol or one of her staff members is always available to help. Her prices can not be beat even compared to other used book stores. My family and I love this store!!

I must disagree with one review. I have always been helped above and beyond what was expected! Yes, it is a small store with millions of books, some in front of others and on top of the shelves. However, there are step stools every where to make life easier and it is all alphabetized, and in specific sections. The ladies that work there have always been extremely helpful when I did have a question and will take time to talk about the books with you. We share stories of our favorite books and recommend our favorites authors. My son loves going there, he will fix me a cup of coffee to drink while I look. He really enjoys the donuts that are provided, and the dogs! I think it is a wonderful place. You can't beat the prices, that is the best part for me! My used soft back novels are $1.50-$2.00. Sure someone else has read it, but who cares, the story is still the same! New soft back novels are $3.50. That is less than half the price of a Barnes and Noble.

Carol has done a wonderful job with this store, you can tell her heart is in it!

They have a lot of books, but the labeling is not the best and they are stacked in front of and on top of each other. Someone asked me if I needed help and when I told her what I was looking for she pointed me in the direction of where it would be and left. She again passed me and asked if I found what I was looking for, I replied with no and she continued to walk by me. I did find 1 book I wanted but only because it was up front in plain sight. Their prices are great but if you can not find what you are looking for you can not buy it.



When I went to check out the woman at the counter was talking to someone else. She took my book told me the total and continued her conversation. She put my book on the counter, no thank you, no have a great day, no nothing. Not the best customer service.

I love this store! She has so many books, especially the ones you can't find anywhere else. Since they are used, you can get books as cheap as $1.50! She is a sweet lady! You will never go to the over-priced stores again!
