Dr. John L. Pfenninger is a Board Certified Family Physician serving the Midland Michigan area for more than 30 years. His practice is limited to office surgery and procedures. He is widely known for the no-needle, no-scalpel, no-suture vasectomy in addition to the treatment of skin growths and cancers. Dr. Pfenninger performs procedures in-office, significantly cutting costs compared to a hospital operating room (on average 50% - 90% savings). Dr. Pfenninger is experienced in many aesthetic procedures from Botox and fillers to fractional laser resurfacing. The motto for the practice is, "We treat patients, not just problems." a true indication of his compassion and dedication. Dr. Pfenninger was the Director of Obstetrics and Procedural Training at the MidMichigan Medical Center Residency Program from 1977 – 1989. He then entered into private practice. Dr. Pfenninger has published 6 medical text books (including a best seller) and numerous medical articles, earning multiple national professional awards. These include the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine Excellence in Teaching Award (2005), and the American Academy of Family Physicians Thomas W. Johnson Award for Career Contributions to Family Medicine Education (2005). He is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Michigan Academy of Family Physicians and the Michigan State Medical Society. Dr. Pfenninger founded The National Procedures Institute (NPI) in 1989. NPI conducted more than 200 courses a year throughout the US for physicians, residents, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants. Dr. Pfenninger has also taught in Singapore, Taiwan, South Africa, Italy, and the Netherlands. He has been an invited to speak at numerous universities, national scientific assemblies, and at the World Congress of Family Physicians (WONCA). Dr. Pfenninger is currently a Clinical Professor of Family Medicine at the Michigan State College of Human Medicine and continues to teach.
