Avista Senior Living Downtown Mesa

My dad is a resident at Avista Senior Living. I am sad to read the bad review from previous poster. From experience with two previous senior living centers, I find Avista to be by far the best around. The caregivers are all very experienced and very caring. I'm sure if someone took a poll of the residents at Avista, the vast majority would be in total agreement with my statement.

My mother is a resident at Avista and this past week the staff there failed to notify me of two falls, illness, and her being transferred to the hospital. My sister had to call the nurse to see why my mother wasn't answering the phone. The nurse didn't know why and told my sister she would find out and call her back. When the nurse called my sister back she said she just found out my mom was sent to the hospital for a fall. The hospital is stating that my mother was sent in because they found her on the floor and disoriented. My mother is suffering from kidney failure (Rhabdomyolysis) due to neglect. The hospital nurse said patients aren't this ill from a fall that she had been left laying there for hours to be in her condition. I contacted her nurse at Avista and she is stating that the caregiver documented that he called me and left a message. I pulled all my phone records and verified every call received for the days in question and I was never contacted by them. I am very sadden by the lack of care my mom has received and if she recovers from this she will not be returning to this facility. Please look up health department violations before placing your love one in these care homes, I'm at a loss right now.
