Threshold Montessori School

Apart from the glowing reviews, I have a few big no-no's on my list at Threshold. The director smokes in the upstairs lounge which drifts down to the care levels. They serve (ONLY) soda and bags of chips (doritos, cokes, candy, etc) at the children's ceremonies and picnics. 2 times or more a month they bring McDonalds into the school and on those days we have to take the kids out to lunch somewhere healthier (I spend TOO MUCH TIME trying to get the kids to NOT want McDonalds and they bring it into a daycare!!) or risk them feeling like outsiders if they eat a regular lunch in front of their friends. CONSTANT BIRTHDAY PARTIES where parents can bring whatever they want, including LOADS of candy. We have (I kid you not) 7 POUNDS of candy from just the last 6 months that was brought home and dumped into a bag on top of the fridge. At least THREE TIMES A WEEK we come to pick them up and find them staring at a tv where one of the teachers has put on a movie; we are not asked if it is ok.

For hardly more, and in some cases less, than the cost of regular daycare, Threshold provides a wonderful, nurturing Montessori learning environment starting as early as 18 months! I started my daughter here after much internal, motherly debate when she was 22 months old. I thought surely she would learn faster, better, more home with me each day, but I was absolutely amazed at how much she learned so quickly! Within 2 weeks she was singing her ABCs and counting in spanish... at not quite 2 years old! I had worked with her on these things for months without near this sort of result, not to mention she was teaching ME about frogs and our environment within a month or two! We met so many great friends and teacher there. I am truly grateful I found this place. The school needs maintenance, but it's safe and wonderful, and you can see that they put every penny towards the children first.. it's one way they keep such a great experience so affordable. Go! Your child will thank you!
