Charter Oaks Apartments

DO NOT MOVE OR EVEN WASTE YOUR MONEY AND TIME HERE! I applied for these apartments and the people were very nice and inviting when I was going through the application process. I asked detailed questions about Utilities and they were not clear until the day of my move in. Then the apartments in the first drive and in the front (which is the majority of them) are one kind of atmosphere which is nice and all you are shown, but in the second drive in the back of the apartments are almost like completely different apartment complexes. I was told that they didn't allow any kind of people to stay there. I even expressed that's why I liked them because they seemed to have standards. They even said they were getting people out by not renewing their leases and spoke of not wanting anyone wild. I asked for and apartments in the front in the beginning and they gave me the Run around..saying they had no idea when it would be ready. how ever when I was shown the apartment I was approved for (in the back where thugs were standing out side shooting dice right in front of one of the managers and across from where I was staying) I saw that I had been messed over. The apartment itself was very nice, clean and spacious but I think they throw young people in the back and allow older more mature crowd in the majority of them towards the visible front. Im a young person as well, but I care and have standards.I called them the same day and expressed my disappointment. I again requested and asked for an apartment in the front or when would one be available. They refused again and proceeded to tell me the one they had no idea about being ready or when (yeah right) was leased already. Funny because they acted like mine was ready way sooner. They allowed me to turn in my keys and get the last of my rent left I had just paid. (THANK GOD) But they didn't return my $150 dollar deposit and the non refundable application fee was 75, which is high considering where I was going to be staying. For the price and where they will possibly put you, you might As well pay less and just move into projects. It wasn't worth it. For all I know, maybe they make their money by reeling people in and jipping them. It was my first time ever trying to rent a place so I definitely learned a lesson. Also the two managers were cold, short and rude with Me when I accepted the offer of getting my last payment back and turning in the keys. (which only confirmed their true characters.) Especially Ms. Lee. As I stated they are one way when you're applying and interested but once I realized what was really up they changed. Oh and one more thing, she made sure to let me fill out all the papers before even letting me see the apartment. They knew what they were doing.

Applied for an apartment January 3 to move in February 1. By February 2 apartment was still not ready and there was still no answer on if we were approved for the apartment. On February 2 they requested bank information and my 401k information. All promises made were not kept. Wasted $150 on the application fee. They did at least return my deposit.
