        Located in Sacramento, Calif., the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District provides fire protection services for more than 500,250 people in an area of over 410 square miles. The district employs a staff of fire suppression associates, firefighters and other support staff members. It operates nearly 35 full-time fire stations that house several firefighting equipment. The district provides fire suppression and prevention and emergency medical response services. It offers public education services for children, adults and senior citizens. The district provides industrial safety training programs for various business communities. It also organizes community workshops, neighborhood meetings, outreach programs and other public gatherings. The district conducts training session on topics related to swift water rescue, wildland firefighting and hazardous materials response.
