Mohs Surgery
In addition, our team is skilled in Mohs surgery. Mohs surgery is done under local anesthetic. After the anesthesia has set in, the visible tumor (tissue) is removed and processed in our on-site laboratory while you wait. Our dermatologic surgeon will look at all the edges and the bottom of the excised tissue to see if cancer cells are still present. If so, another “level” of tissue is removed in just the area in which the cells are present. This procedure is repeated until all skin cancer cells have been removed. Once the area has been cleared of skin cancer, the resulting wound is closed (sutured).
