CAMPO MAMMOTH

We were thrilled when Campo opened in Mammoth a couple of years ago. Finally, we hoped, some good upscale Italian food in town. Have we ever been disappointed. I keep going back thinking that it's going to get better and have yet to have a great experience. The most common issues have been with the service -- long waits to get to our table to order drinks, food served before drinks, entrees served before appetizers, etc. -- and also have had hit-or-miss experiences with the food. My favorite episode is when we were served a pasta that you could snap in your fingers like a brittle twig. Our server claimed she went back to tell the chef, and returned shortly to tell us that is how pasta is served al dente. It was like chewing on tic tacs. I'll probably personify the definition of insanity and give it another try this year.
