General Info: The North Carolina Department of Correction supervises adult offenders who are on probation and parole. Located in Lumberton, N.C., the department provides chemical dependency, substance abuse treatment and intervention services. It also operates various prisons that offer dental and mental health care services. In addition, the North Carolina Department of Correction provides advocacy and family support services to crime victims. The department operates through prisons, community corrections and administration divisions. The North Carolina Department of Correction additionally offers educational, counseling and employment assistance services to help inmates become productive members of society. The department has a staff of more than 19,000 employees.
