Shalimar Indian Restaurant

Hmm! Not one of my favourite places. If you order 4 different dishes the chances that you have the same gravy in 2 is very high. Too much oil. Undercooked starters messed a 100 dollar outing. When brought to the notice of the server the response was --- may be a few dishes are undercooked during busy times.

My favorite restaurant in Louisville! I love to go for dinner:). They put these little tea light candles on the tables, the servers and staff are always very kind and courteous and NICE, and I just love the food! The crispy cumin wafers they bring to the table are delicious, I love the cheese bread I usually order as an appetizer, and I almost always get Chicken Saag...i go in meaning to branch out, but I just love it so much it usually wins out. Soooo Good!

I have came here so many times that i have gotten to know the owners! They are very nice and hard working people. I say this because it really shows in the way they treat their customers and do anything to accommodate you. So basically service is great. But a restaurant needs to have great food! and...they have amazzzing food! (obviously if I've been a returning customer) I love Shalimar because the flavors are so unique my taste buds take a dive! From the flavorful curries to the refreshing yogurt to the mango dessert.. it is a party in my mouth :D

I've tried many different foods off the menu and the waiters are always great in explaining what i am getting. If you are going for the first time I would say a great choice is Chicken Tikka Masala and Naan.

My sister is vegan and loves coming as well because of the many choices they offer!

Love the food and service!

These people LOVE making us happy everytime we walk in the door. Their customer service is untouchable & their food is even better! I've gotten to where I frequent this place at least once a week!

I know that it always seems like an urban legend when you read what I am about to post, but I promise I am no making this up and i will never eat here again!



Me and a group of co-workers have always enjoyed going to Shalimar for the lunch buffet. We usually go about once a month with no complaints and walk out full and with our Indian fix. Today we walked in, perfect setting, not very crowded and headed up to the buffet line. While in line my co-worker yelped out and got our attention. While going through the Vegetable Pakora's a roach (seriously a roach, no lie, no exaggeration) came out of the food. We got the attendants that stand behind the register, told them quietly about their insect issue, placed our plated on said counter and walked out.... We will never eat there again!

Shalimar has the best Indian Buffet in town! I like the North-Indian cuisine, and though they do offer a few South-Indian selections, their consistent flavors and quality keep us coming back weekly! My favorites are the fresh naan, tandoori chicken, chicken tikka masala, saag paneer and ALL the desserts, of which there are usually at least 6 or 8 including ice cream for the non-adventurous kids. Their dinner menu is fantastic and the food is perhaps even higher quality made fresh for you at dinner time! The staff is attentive but not intrusive and very friendly. Unlike many Indian restaraunts, this place nicely decorated with soft Indian music in the bakcground, glasstops over linene table cloths with linen napkins, and is always shiny clean with spotless restrooms. Plenty of free parking.



CATERING!!! I recommend Shalimar Indian Restaurant to cater your next party! If you like naan and juicy kabobs freshly prepared on-site in a tandoor, and savory korma, tikka masala, curries, biryani and saag, talk to Teerath Pandher to arrange for a fine Indian dinner for your guests. He will order Halal meat on request, and you will find no bones in the korma! Mild, medium or hot, he will 'spice' the food to your preference. He is eager to please and will ensure your food is properly prepared and served. Don't forget the desserts--Ras malai, kheer, jelebis, gulab jaman, and halva will delight everyone at your party.

my wife and i have been going here since it opened and have always enjoyed it. it was the first place we ever took our newborn daughter to. my wife is picky about her mexican food as she used to live in texas. we don't get back as often as we would like with having two kids now but we do take out often. staff is very welcoming and i always feel like norm on cheers when we go in and the staff recognizes us.

El Toro has been our favorite Mexican restaurant for several years. They have the best chips & salsa, and wonderful margaritas. But the thing that really sets them apart from the countless other authentic Mexican restaurants in town is their attention to service. We genuinely feel like family and not just another customer. Check them out. You won't be sorry.
