sad

When we walked into Mike Linnigs....it was exactly what I expected, a fun quirky atmosphere.
We waited and waited for our server to take our order.
When we finally received our order it was not warm.
Then the wait for our check, we waited and waited..finally the waitress tells is the computer is down. At this point we had been there almost 3 hours!
We kindly asked for a manager, the manager who was standing in a group fully of staff yelled at the waitress ...yes yelled . Proceeded to not listen to the problem at hand.
I understand computers go down but do something get your calculator out or offer something for the extra wait.
We were not looking for a hand out, we wanted to pay and leave.
We had originally ordered an extra fish sandwich to go..so that we could take it to a family member who had to work late. They forgot to add the sandwich and proceeded to tell us that they would not give us one.
And then the final straw ...the owner came out and was absolutely as rude as he could be.
Clearly they have some major internal issues.
Final note, you have been in this area for years.... I hear that it used to be a great place to come. Don't throw away all the hard work that your family worked so hard to achieve.
Date of terrible service , Aug 9, 13
To the owner on duty that night....You should be ashamed of your actions.

Nice atmosphere. Great for the family. Children have lots to keep them occupied so the adults can enjoy.

Instant picnic - bring a group or eat alone. Best and biggest fried fish (cod) sandwich or plate. Great pan-fried oysters (2 per bite) shrimp, and frog legs. Baked cod great too. Stick with the mainstays and enjoy eating outdoors.

The worse service in the world. Waited over a hour and half for my food and the server had an attitude. Never again!

mostly friendly

I placed and order for my crew at work, 34 fish sandwiches and fries. Instead of welcoming my business, the manager did nothing but complain about the large order. Next time, my business goes elsewhere. The rest of the staff was very friendly.

Mike Linnig's has gotten pretty stingy with their food. Though they're not all that bad, they need to work on a lot of things. Though you kinda have to keep in mind that the place has been around since like 1925 so you can't expect it too be like all that like a lot of the more modern restaurants nowadays. they really need to upgrade a lot of their kitchen stuff and get better staff. But as I said it's not too bad. I just think that the majority of the problems should be blamed on the staff that work there.

Not so sure

I've eaten at Linnigs off and on for years and loved it, but the last few times I've gone there I wasn't impressed. What happened? The food was luke warm and I also think Linnigs was gotten over priced. It's also the only fish place I know that allows one tarter sauce per order, then charges for any more. If anyone leaves extra tarter sauce on their tray (when they leave the resturant) the persons clearing the table pick them up and do what? resell them? While I'm sure there are Linnigs followers that would give it "rave reviews" no matter how much they charge, I'm not one of them. While I won't give them a bad rating, I'm not so sure I'd take out of state vistors there.

Excellent food and service

I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. The food is consistently delicious. It's affordable and the portions are huge. I can see why they have been in business for such a long time. The waiters are always friendly and provide wonderful service. We had such a good time. The kids especially loved the playground. This place never disappoints. We are already looking forward to our next visit.

I don't know why people love this place

Eating at this place is the equivalent of going to a huge family reunion and eating outside: there are lots of scary people there you don't know, the mosquitos are eating you up, and there is the constant fear of being drug off into the woods. The people that love this place are the same ones that would consider going out to O'Charleys a "nice" dinner. And probably think 10% is a really good tip, too. Don't waste your time (or the long drive) here unless you have an affinity for tailgating with the backwoods people from "Deliverance," and clogging your arteries with deep fried crap.
