        I wouldn't recommend Chatfield State Park for your experience. The staff is young and uninterested in you. Recently I did a 1 hour trail ride with my sister (beginner) and my niece (beginner--ride was a birthday present). My sister ended up leading the group while the two trail guides fell to the back and chatted among themselves. Not once did either try to engage the group of 8 in any conversation. Neither guide told us their name or our horses names. One guide spent about 20 minutes on her cell phone (while riding!) making plans for the evening with her roommate. She didn't give us our change (had to pay in cash) because she didn't have change. We were not allowed to carry water with us on the trail--it was 1:30 in the afternoon, 98 degrees outside and we couldn't take water with us! One of the riders was a young girl, supposedly getting a riding lesson. Neither of the guides spent any time with her, no instructions were given to the young girl at all. I wonder if her mother knows. I don't believe they were getting their money's worth! I didn't want to give this a star at all, but that's not an option. I was thoroughly disappointed and will NOT go there again. I recommend you don't either!
