Founded in 2000, Lincoln County Emergency Medical Services is responsible for the planning, coordination, direction and evaluation of patient care-related solutions. It provides emergency and nonemergency 911 advanced life support transportation and paramedic services for the residents of Lincoln County in North Carolina. The department offers medical first responder programs that include public safety, injury prevention, medical education, and disaster preparedness and response. It operates various volunteer agencies, including Lincoln Rescue Squad, West Lincoln Rescue Squad and Lincoln County Life Saving Crew. The agencies are responsible for providing technical rescue services, as well as assist in searching missing and lost persons, traffic control, evacuations and debris removal throughout the county. Lincoln County Emergency Medical Services additionally supports several medical facilities, such as Presbyterian Healthcare, Grace Hospital, Gaston Memorial Hospital and the Lake Norman Regional Medical Center. It has received the Model EMS System award. The department is a part of the government of Lincoln County, which also operates finance, human resources and public works departments.
