Autism
Pervasive Developmental Disorder. A broad category of disability that involves problems in social interaction and verbal and nonverbal communication. PDD is not a specific diagnosis but an umbrella term for several disorders and syndromes considered to be mental and/or behavioral disorders. Its major diagnosis is autism. PDD not otherwise specified (PDDNOS) refers to children who have autistic characteristics but do not formally qualify for the diagnosis.
Epilepsy
Developmental Disability means a disability that is manifested before the person reaches twenty-two (22) years of age, which constitutes a substantial disability to the affected individual, and is attributable to mental retardation or related conditions which include cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism or other neurological conditions when such conditions result in impairment of general intellectual functioning or adaptive behavior similar to that of a person with mental retardation. Unless otherwise specifically stated, the federal definition of "Developmental Disability" found in 42 U.S. C. 6000, et seq., shall not apply.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. This is similar to ADD but includes gross motor over activity, such as excessive running, talking, or manipulation of objects and excessive fidgeting and restlessness.
Mental Health
Individuals who may meet the "Medicaid Covered Diagnosis Criteria" for mental illness are referred to Jefferson Center for Mental Health or the mental health provider in their community.
Behavioral Health
Assist individuals on waiting list through emergency response funds, knowledge of and referral to community resources, State and Medicaid funded options and local self-determination initiative and behavioral health services.

Wound Care
The goal of First Aid and CPR is to provide people with the knowledge and skills necessary in an emergency to call for help, to help keep someone alive, to reduce pain, and to minimize the consequences of injury or sudden illness until advanced emergency medical help arrives. The CPR portion of the course covers CPR skills for adults, children and infants, and introduces the student to AED use. The First Aid portion of the course covers bleeding and wound care, shock, burns, serious injuries, bone/joint and muscle injuries, sudden illness, poisoning, heat and cold emergencies and rescuing/moving victims.

Prior to working at DDRC, Micki lived in Wisconsin where she spent the majority of her career as an Early Intervention physical therapist, with a few years working at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin mixed in there. Micki graduated summa cum laude with her Master's Degree in Physical Therapy from Marquette University.
