Veterinary Hospital that is a 100% small animal facility. It provides all medical needs for pet care. The hospital also provides an in house grooming and boarding facility. We also
have a 24 hour emergency service.
Our approach to pet dental care starts with regular dental cleanings and exams when your pets are young. We recommend regular dental checkups and cleanings at least every 1 to 2 years in most cases. Some pets, however, require more frequent cleanings.
Vaccination
We understand that your work schedule can make it difficult to plan an appointment for your pet Monday through Friday. For this reason, we not only offer our clients Saturday appointments, but also the option to drop off your pet in the morning and pick him up in the afternoon on weekdays. Whether your pet is due for vaccinations or having a medical issue that needs to be addressed, just give Marcello Veterinary Hospital a call and we can schedule a drop-off time as early as 8 a.m. Pick-up time is before 5:30 p.m. We’re here to make your pet care a little easier.

Comprehensive Examination
During their first visit, your pet will receive a thorough physical examination, age appropriate vaccinations, and an intestinal parasite screen. Puppies will also receive heartworm and flea prevention. Testing your new kitten for Feline Leukemia (Felu), Feline immunodeficiency Virus (FIV), and heartworms at their first visit is very important. These infectious diseases can weaken the immune system, cause long term issues and spread to other feline friends in the household. A secondary test is performed to ensure accurate detection in six months to a year.
We recommend starting puppies and kittens on heartworm prevention no later than eight weeks of age. Dogs six months and older are required to be tested for heartworms before starting them on any regular heartworm prevention. We check for the presence of heartworm infection by collecting a small blood sample from your pet and using a SNAP test.
Pain Management
We perform a full cleaning both above and below the gum-line where periodontal disease lurks. It would be impossible to clean below the gum line on a dog or cat who is awake. However, this is where periodontal disease begins–with bacteria “living” below the gum tissues. A cleaning involves scaling or scraping the tooth to remove plaque and calculus. Lastly, the teeth are polished, leaving a completely smooth surface of the tooth which discourages plaque and bacteria from adhering to the rough tooth surface. Your pet may be discharged with antibiotics or pain medication following a dental procedure.
Vaccinations help prevent illnesses that affect your pet’s immune system and organ function. Performing yearly vaccinations are considered the best way to protect your pet by reducing the severity of these illnesses. For dogs, a Rabies vaccination, Distemper combination vaccination and Bordetella Bronchiseptica vaccination is given yearly to protect your pet against serious infections, such as leptospirosis, adenovirus, distemper virus, parvovirus and kennel cough. We also offer a Lymes vaccination for dogs exposed to environments inhabited by ticks.
Parvovirus Infection Treatment
Feline Retro Virus Treatment
Cats should be put on a preventive treatment and tested as recommended by our veterinarians. Cats are not a natural host for heartworms however, just a few can make a cat very ill. Prevention in cats is critical because there is no approved drug treatment for heartworm infection in cats. When your cat receives a Feline Leukemia Virus/Feline Immunodeficiency Virus/Heartworm antigen combination test, he or she will be tested for heartworms. If your cat tests positive for heartworms, he or she can be helped with good veterinary care and a long-term management plan.
Bacterial and Viral Infection Treatment
Bordetella (BORD) - A respiratory bacterial infection known as “kennel cough.” Spread through the air in confined areas such as kennels.
Digital radiology is particularly useful for several patient conditions including cases of coughing, foreign body ingestion, limb lameness, heart disease, constipation, and more. After diagnosis, our team can formulate a treatment plan to help your pet get back to feeling their best.
Kidney Disease Treatment
ACTH Stimulation Test- Test for Cushing’s disease. Cushing’s disease is a serious health condition that is caused by increased production of the stress hormone cortisol by the adrenal glands. Excess cortisol can be life threatening and also cause conditions such as diabetes and kidney damage.
Periodontal Disease Treatment
Dental care is one of the most neglected aspects of pet health care. As with people, oral disease in pets begins with bacteria in the mouth that harden and form plaque that adhere to teeth. If not removed through regular care and cleaning, these bacteria will accumulate, harden into tartar, and can lead to the development of periodontal disease. Once periodontal disease is established, the constant exposure to these bacteria can potentially cause damage to major organs of the body such as the heart, liver, and kidneys.
