Plaka Greek Cafe

I'm originally from Wisconsin and love gyros. There's a gyro place up there that I love and miss and have looked everywhere since moving down here to Texas 12 years ago for anything that would come close. I hadn't found anything until now. This place has THE BEST Greek food EVER! For me to say that is something since one of my best friends married a man from Greece and he makes wonderful food. I happily make the hour plus drive when I can find the time (I have 4 young children and a husband) just to eat here. I would love it if they sold their food in stores too. I would buy it all the time. Love, love, LOVE this place. My all time favorite place to eat.

I'm from Chicago so I am used to the best Greek Food. My husband and I were stationed at Fort Hood and would drive 50 mins just to eat here. Now that we live in Austin it's only a half hour drive. The best Greek salad and Tabouli and I never really liked Greek salad before but theirs is sooo good! The gyro meat is never dry always freshly cut. The only thing is that they would actually flame the Saganaki and use the Kaloumi cheese? Instead. Different people make it differently, but that's my only wish. Otherwise I love this place and well worth the drive. Now Im craving it, might have to make a trip tomorrow.

I have been around the world and the two best Greek restaurants outside of Crete are in Brussells, Belgium and Georgetown, Texas. The owner is a great guy and every time we talk I feel like I am back in one of my favorite places. Great food, clean, fresh, cheap and with a great atmosphere. This is one of most favorite places and I visit several times a week.
