Nick Moore, DVM grew up with horses on a ranch in south-central Montana. In 2001 he began his equine dentistry training at the Academy of Equine Dentistry. His experience and passion for this field eventually led him to attend veterinary school at Colorado State University. Following graduation from veterinary school, he obtained advanced training in equine medicine and surgery by completing an internship at Arizona Equine Medical and Surgical Centre. Dr. Moore has taught equine dentistry in conferences and wet-labs in South America, Australia, Europe, and all over the USA. Today, he regularly travels across the USA to perform standing oral extractions and minimally invasive oral surgeries for referring veterinary practices. He has presented lectures on equine dentistry at a wide array of conferences including the IGFP in Germany, the NVVGP in the Netherlands, the BAEDT in the United Kingdom, IBVET in Brazil, the Texas Equine Veterinary Association, the American Association of Equine Practitioners, the Louisiana Veterinary Medical Association, Western Veterinary Conference, the International Association of Equine Dentistry and many others. He has published several peer-reviewed articles in different areas of equine dentistry.
Moore Equine is pleased to offer portable digital radiographs. This allows us to obtain high quality images wherever your horse may be located. Digital radiographs are superior to conventional radiographs and allow the veterinarian to achieve higher quality images.
Dental Radiology
This module sets the foundation for all the rest of the courses and can also be taken as a stand alone that will forever change the way you perform equine dentistry. Topics cover oral biomechanics, core concepts of occlusal equilibration, in depth hypsodont anatomy and pathology, advanced principles of oral examination, juvenile versus geriatric dentistry, dental radiology, review of dental nerve blocks, and several other topics. The course consists of lectures all morning followed by wet lab on live horses in the afternoon. The groups are very small and participants work on horses in groups of two.
