The Fresno Police Department is a full-service law enforcement agency that has a staff of more than 45 sworn officers. The department operates an investigations unit that conducts narcotic investigations. It also participates in the worldwide drug prevention program, Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.). The DARE program provides education on the dangers of tobacco, alcohol, marijuana and inhalants and the ways for children to resist peer pressure. The department offers this program to all fifth-grade students in the city. The Fresno Police Department has several specialized units, such as special response, K-9, crime scene investigators, school liaison and resource officers, police student alliance program and community policing teams. The department is located in Fresno, Calif.
