Medical Weight Loss
Fat transfers are used in a variety of situations and may be performed anywhere on the body. The main premise is replacing volume that has been lost either due to the aging process, following weight loss, or to simply accentuate an area (the buttock for example).
Smoking Cessation
Most patients in their 30â€™s need to focus on caring for their skin. This includes mainly sun avoidance, smoking cessation and treatments such as Nia-24 or Retin-A. When the wrinkles or folds are prominent, then fillers would be an excellent choice as it would be very rare to consider face-lifting procedures in women that are so young. Women often start requesting procedures such as this in their 30â€™s and their use may be ongoing until larger procedures may be required.

Labor and Delivery
A tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, is a major surgical procedure that tightens the skin and underlying fascia (the layer covering the muscles) of the belly. Usually the excess skin and loose tissue is eliminated, often along with stretch marks and previous scars from other surgeries. Frequently after childbirth or weight loss, the abdominal muscles (rectus abdominus) are separated. If this is the case, sutures are used to repair the separation, creating a sort of internal corset. The incisions are usually placed below the bikini line from hip to hip, and also around the belly button.

Chemotherapy
When a woman receives the diagnosis of breast cancer, the news can be devastating. The flood of information from friends, family and the internet can be overwhelming. The first and most important thing is to find a great oncologist and a great breast surgeon. If you have a team that you are comfortable with already, that is great! Dr. Heistein is a specialist in breast reconstruction, and he will help restore your appearance after your breast surgery and any chemotherapy or radiation that you might need.
Radiation Therapy
Although many women elect to start reconstruction at the time of the mastectomy (immediate reconstruction), others prefer to wait until after completing all of their treatments. This is delayed reconstruction. This is sometimes recommended if radiation therapy is to be used after surgery or if a patient is unsure if reconstruction is right for her. A discussion with a plastic surgeon will help guide this decision.

Ear Surgery
When ear surgery is performed by an experienced board certified plastic surgeon, complications are infrequent and usually minor. However, as with any surgery, complications are possible. A small percentage of patients may develop a blood clot on the ear. It may dissolve naturally or can be drawn out with a needle. As with any surgery, infection is a risk, but these infections are usually well treated with antibiotics. Recurrence of the protrusion is also a possibility if the ears are not protected after surgery.

Gangrene
You will be required to quit smoking several weeks before and also after your surgery to reduce post operative complications caused by smoking. This includes use of nicotine in any form (tobacco, nicotine patches or gum.) Skin loss is 8 to 10 times more likely in smokers. Smoking may cause poor or delayed healing – even death of skin (gangrene) in addition to lung complications and bleeding.

Liposuction (also called suction lipectomy, liposculpture, or simply “lipo”) is used to remove pockets of fat from under the skin. Since only small incisions are used, there is very little scarring. Liposuction can be applied to almost any area of the body, including but not limited to the neck, chest, abdomen, flanks, thighs (saddle bags), ankles and arms.
Breast Augmentation
Breast Implant removal provides a way for patients who are experiencing issues with their breast augmentation or who are no longer happy with the results of their breast augmentation with a way to restore the appearance of their breasts. Thigh Lift
A thigh lift is directed either at the outer part or the inner part of the thighâ€”most commonly the inner thigh. The scar may either be confined to the upper thigh that would be covered by a bathing suit, or it may require skin excision from the groin down to the inner knee. Shorter scar techniques can sometimes be used to keep the scars â€œhiddenâ€ in the groin area only. You should expect a smoother contour soon after your thigh lift.

Body Lift
The third option for abdominal skin tightening is called a belt lipectomy, so named because of the incision used. It can also be called a lower body lift since it helps to â€œliftâ€ the outer thighs and buttocks too. Dr. Heistein makes an incision that extends all the way around the abdomen, at approximately the same height where you would wear a belt; sometimes this is supplemented by an additional incision down the front of the belly to the pubic area. Belt lipectomies are excellent options for patients who have excess skin in large amounts around the abdomen, hips, and back. Breast Surgery
There are a number of websites on the Internet that claim women with breast implants need surgery every 10 years. This is not absolutely true. For patients who have breast implants, there are two reasons why surgery may become necessary. The first is if capsular contracture occurs (fibrous, scar-like tissue that squeezes the implants), and the second reason is if an implant leaks. Additionally, a patient might want to have another surgery is because she wants to remedy a problem. Breast sag is the most common reason a patient would want another surgery. Larger breasts are more affected by gravity and, over a long period of time, a patient may wish to undergo another surgery in order to counteract the sagging effect that can take place. It is difficult to predict how much time will pass before sagging occurs – if it occurs at all – because skin type, nutritional habits, sun damage, smoking, breast implant size, and how much support the patient wears can all influence whether breast sag occurs. Undergoing surgery to correct an increase in breast sag is something many patients choose to do nothing about – because it simply does not bother them. Therefore, you do not absolutely have to have breast surgery every 10 years.
Otoplasty
Otoplasty (ear pinning) is a procedure designed to correct protruding ears. This may be addressed either as a child (as young as 6) or in adults. The incisions are confined to the skin behind the ear and involve some combination of sutures, cartilage excision and skin removal. A protective band is generally worn after surgery to ensure that the sutures are not stressed. Recovery is fairly quick, about 1 or 2 weeks.
Lip Augmentation
Injectable fillers and/or fat transfers may be the answer. Although the results will not be the same as a facelift, the effects can range from subtle to dramatic depending upon your desired outcome. Often, by filling the nasolabial folds (the vertical contour from the corner of the nose to the corner of the mouth) and filling some fine facial lines, a patient can look and feel years younger. Many patients also choose to combine these procedures with lip augmentation and Botox injections. The total cost of body contouring surgery is determined based on factors like your medical examinations, surgeonâ€™s fee, hospital charges, post-surgery garments, and anesthesia. The exact techniques used will also impact cost, as will the total time needed to perform the surgery.
Gynecomastia

Dermabrasion
Dermabrasion uses a type of sanding stone to resurface the skin. This can be applied to the wrinkles around the mouth and it also gives the surgeon excellent control in contouring acne scarring throughout the entire face. Recovery is about 1 week.
Facial Implants
A facelift (rhytidectomy) addresses the â€œjowlâ€ area on the lower face as well as the cheek and neck. Incisions are modified for the individual patient, but generally extend from the sideburn, around in front of the ear, and then behind the ear in the hairline. On a thin face with little skin excess, a minifacelift may be done with similar incisions. An incision under the chin may be needed for more extensive tightening on the neck. For the right person, the results of a facelift may last for up to 15 years. This procedure can either be done alone or in combination with other facial procedures such as eyelid lifts, browlift or facial implants. Sutures are removed after 1 week and most people return to their regular activities in 2 weeks.
Bariatric Surgery
Â€œYou look great!â€ After losing large amounts of weight through bariatric surgery, many patients hear compliments like this from friends and family. However, patients may not feel like they look â€œgreatâ€ because they still have extra skin left over, especially in the abdomen. Due to typical fat distribution before bariatric surgery, the abdomen is usually the area of the body with the most excess skin. Tightening and removal of this extra skin is essential for the patient to be able to wear proportionally-sized clothing and to avoid getting rashes. Skin tightening is an excellent way for bariatric surgery patients to take another step towards leading a happier, healthier life.
Forehead Lift
Browlift (forehead lift) surgery is designed to elevate the outer brow. The elevation of the brow not only restores a youthful slope to the brow, but it also lifts skin off the outer upper lid. Additionally, wrinkles across the forehead and between the eyebrows can be treated by resecting the muscles in these areas, a surgical Botox that is permanent. Brow Lift may involve either small incisions concealed in the hairline or a longer incision over the top of the scalp, generally still behind the hairline.
