“... I had been having knee pain from playing too much tennis, it felt like a knife stabbing into the side of my knee, it even left a tender spot that looked like a small golfball. [The doctor] focused the shockwave on that spot and it broke up that hard and tender area. I will not sugar coat the pain, it really hurt, but to get relief was amazing. I have not needed a follow up, just stretching and deep tissue massage on the knee and hip....... I recommend this treatment, if you are in pain, it helps speed up the healing process.

Cryotherapy
The Kinesio Taping Method involves taping over and around muscles in order to give assistance and support or to prevent over-contraction. One technique gives the practitioner the opportunity to actually give support while maintaining full range of motion, enabling the individual to participate in physical activity with functional assistance. Another technique helps prevent overuse or over-contraction and helps provide facilitation of lymphatic flow 24 hours a day while applied. It is most commonly used in the acute stage of rehabilitation. Kinesio Tex Tape can be used in conjunction with other therapies, including cryotherapy, hydrotherapy, massage therapy, and electrical stimulation.

Chiropractic Adjustments
Chiropractic manipulations, also known as Chiropractic adjustments, are an important part in rehabilitative care for most individuals experiencing pain, joint stiffness/tightness or lost range of motion.
Spinal Adjustments
The doctors at Active Spine & Sport Therapy are all Doctors of Chiropractic, yet unlike most chiropractic offices the vast majority of patients at Active Spine & Sport Therapy are not treated using joint manipulation or spinal adjustments. Only about 10-15% of patients require joint manipulation. When it is employed in a patient’s care, it is utilized to restore function, range of motion and reduce pain – none of the care is based on alignment or postural restoration.
Manipulation Therapy
Our providers blend manual joint manipulation therapy with deep muscular therapy and physical rehabilitation training. Adjusting involves placing the body into a safe position to encourage the desired movement and applying a quick, specific push or pull. These adjustments can be very effective in alleviating pain, improving range of motion, and improving athletic performance.
Therapeutic Exercise
As musculoskeletal system experts, it is essential that healthcare providers understand the relationships between body segments and how impairments in one body region may adversely affect function of another body region. Approaching therapeutic exercise prescription from a movement perspective model allows the concepts of muscle imbalance and regional interdependence to be addressed in a logical, methodical manner.
Acupuncture
Our doctors have a number of treatment options to stop the pain fast. The most valuable tools we have at our disposal are specific McKenzie exercises which can rapidly reduce pain and restore movement, hands-on therapies such as Fascial Distortion Model (FDM), Active Release Techniques (ART), Trigger Point Dry Needling (TDN), Acupuncture, joint or soft tissue mobilization and gentle range of motion exercises (carefully selected and taught).
