Pfenningers Paving & Excavating Incorporated

I called the owner for an estimate and he blew me off telling me he'd call back in 15 minutes - that was a week ago. Still no call. Bad sign.

I am wondering if you are talking about the same company? I called for a price quote, got an immediate response from the owner, who set up a time to measure the drive and was on time and courteous. Pfenninger's had come highly recommended by friends and I am glad I had taken their advise. The price was slightly higher than the competitions, but I also received a 3" compacted material. I had received quotes from the others that were mentioned in your review, however I certainly would NEVER recommend one of the companies mentioned, the other was comparable but not quite as personable.



I would recommend this company to anyone who wants an honest and fair job done. The workers were pleasant and professional, the job was done to contract.



I am so glad I didn't see your review prior to making my own educated decision.



Trust me....Pfenningers is well known locally for superior workmanship. Highly recommended A+++

Here are my ratings:



Customer service - F - It takes 2 weeks to return phones calls.



PRICING - F - they are 50% more than competition



Workmanship - F - They spilled tar all over my pavers, some pavers turned black. When i confronted the owner about it he said that paving is a messy business and i should live with it, but after i got upset, he reluctantly came over and cleaned up his mess.



Service after installation - F minus minus. Had craters and marks on my driveway and asked him to come over to look at it. He was all defensive and said i don't know how to drive a car. Also said that he was tired of being bothered by me and had it and cursed my out. Some customer service. He later stormed off and drove away and said to go ahead and sue him cause he is not going to help me. WHAT ABOUT THE 5 YEAR WARRANTY ON THE CONTRACT.

Is that just a joke?



Creditibility - F - Raised the price twice, once before we finalized the deal. After we negotiated a price, a month later when i needed him to do the job, he said he can't budge on the number, so i had to give him $1000 more. Then when he was half way thru, he wanted to raise the price again. Who does that?



Summary - I would never use these guys. I went with them even though they were expensive because they did my neighbors and it appeared to be a good job. But the bottom line is they don't give a damn about the customer. They just care about getting paid in full and leaving the job as quick as they can. They don't want to called after installation so don't bother them. When i did call about these craters on my driveway, the owner of the company came over and said " Well the driveway was fine when i left here" You must not know how to drive and he continued to curse me out and told me to sue him and don't bother him. Is that customer service? What kind of company is this.



So if yoiu want an obnoxious rude individual, who is more than 50% more than his competitors, makes a mess and says live with it, may raise the price during construciton, and impossible to get a hold of on the telephone, and oh by the way, renegs on his contract regarding warranty, as welll as cursing you out, well then this is the company for you.



Better busines bureau is my next phone call.
