We are so thrilled with the work that Gary and his crew did for us! Very professional and kept the work area impressively clean! The finished product is exactly what we had hoped for. While working on our water management in our NOW very dry and non-leaky basement, he managed to educate us on the problems we had and how he was solving them! The third company, which was also a waterproofer by trade, wanted to work on it from the inside. They suggested an interior drain or gutter system with an installed plastic subfloor system. The plastic subfloor would raise the flooring off the damp wet concrete. The cost was estimated at a rough $10,000.00
Drywalls
Gary came out promptly to provide an estimate. The estimate alone took 2 hours as the walls are covered with drywall, so he need to remove a portion of the drywall to locate the problem. Once identified, he explained the problem and ways to prevent additional problems going forward (such as re-routing my downspouts outside). He also inspected the rest of the basement to see if there were other issues. He explained my repair options and the pros and cons of each. Once I chose him to complete the work, they were able to come the next day to complete the repair, re-rout my downspouts, and also replace my old sump pump. Overall, very happy with the service.

My house is 63 years old. I had water coming into the basement from the perimeter of all four walls. I spent $1050 to take up the carpeting and dry it out. The water kept coming back. I contacted Atlantic Coast and Gary Lustig came out to look at the damage and gave me a quote. He expalined the problem in detail, explained exactly what they would do, showed me pictures, and explained about how long it would take to dig up the basement perimeter, install new piping and egg rock, put a breathing strip in and re-cement.

If you find a Gutter or Landscaping Company who will “guarantee you a dry basement” by doing either one of these projects, give me a call with their company’s phone number because I have a bridge in Brooklyn that I would like to sell them! These projects may redirect the water from downfall off of your roof. Yet, the majority of the water your foundation comes in contact with is “ground water.” For example, one inch of rain over an acre of land equals 27,000 gallons of water. Imagine a winter thaw where we have two feet of snow melt within 48 hours. Gutters and downspouts are important, do not get me wrong, but should not be confused with repairing or fixing a leaky basement.

Some other basement waterproofing contractors we spoke with do not pull permits. We are very happy that this job was permitted and the cost of all permits was included in the quote. During our excavation our water main developed a leak. Gary’s relationship with the city and with his plumber meant the damage was repaired the same day.
