This was a very good facility until the staff doctor died and his PA left for Greenville. After that there were various doctors there and even some called health care providers (whatever that means). They recently got a new doctor and he treated my bronchitis and gave me breathing treatments. I got much better and was so happy to at least have a competent doctor at this facility. Had an appt. for follow up but in the meantime had managed to hurt my hip. The doctor didn’t even listen to my chest. I told him about the hip pain and was advised to take 2 Tylenol every 4 hours for pain. No referral to have X-rays or anything. Pain has gotten progressively worse so today I went to the ER in Morehead and the first thing they did was take X-rays. I have 2 hip fractures and pain is horrible. I realize the doctor couldn’t know I had these fractures but based on my pain level and the way I was walking he should have referred me to someone else. Based on his diagnosis, I continued to walk dog, etc. and aggravated it further. Stay away unless you have something very simple and easily treated.

The employees are rude and incompetent. Expect this and you will not be disappointed. Seek another clinic or hospital emergency room for treatment.

This location has horrible fol...

This location has horrible follow-through and lack of concern for their patients. It simply herds you in and out, at the slowest rate possible (2.5 hours), and does not necessarily provide any treatment. I am also a healthcare provider and if I offered this kind of disreputable service, I would be fired. I was offered a choice of several treatments because the diagnosis was not definitive. I am not a guinea pig and prefer to know what is happening in my body. It should not take well over 72 hours to be referred to more appropriate providers. Are we in a third world country? Only at Med first of Emerald Isle.

This is a run of the mill Urgent Care, a business focused only on the dollar, and NOT a Family Practice. Emerald Isle deserves better, more equipped healthcare to service the needs of the community!

Stay away!!!!!! Worst experience of my life. If I could rate it lower I would. Place it dirty and they play favorites.

My experience went like this.

My wife had injured her ankle and it had been swollen and was painful for going on three weeks, so I finally got her to have it looked at.

My wife called the Urgent Care at 7901 Emerald Isle, NC. at around 12 noon on Wednesday 8-28-2013, to make an appointment. She was told that that they only do walk-ins from 2:00 pm on. And that they went to lunch from 12:00 - 2:00 am.

They said they do first come first serve for walk-ins, so the sooner she got there the better.

We arrived there at 1:37 pm and were the only ones in the waiting room. My wife signed in (first) and talked to the receptionist about insurance or lack of and was asked if she had an appointment, which my wife answered no, she was a walk-in. She was the first walk-in. About 10 minutes later a young man came in and the receptionist asked if he had an appointment. He said no, he was a walk-in.

About 2:00 pm a nurse came out and said they had had a few emergencies in the morning and they were running behind. I asked if she new about how long the wait would be. She said she didn't know. So I said an hour? She said no, not that long, maybe a half or three quarters of an hour wait.

My wife and I hadn't eaten lunch so we told the receptionist that we were going to run out and grab something quick and would be right back. She said that would be fine. So, we went to a local fast food place and got something "to go", and came right back. It took about 15 minutes. My wife went back in to let the receptionist know we were back. So we hurried and ate in the car and then my wife went back in. She asked the receptionist if she knew how much longer and she said it shouldn't be long. It was now around 2:30 - 2:45.

My wife sat there for another hour as people came in and were taken in and left. She went and asked the receptionist what was going on and was told those people had earlier appointments. This went on for another hour, people kept coming in and were seen. Then they called the young man, who came in after us, that was a "walk-in". So my wife asked again and told them she was there before him and was told "he had an earlier appointment". My wife said no he didn't, he said he was a walk-in.

So, she got the "oh, well you're next". Several more people came and went and finally at 5:15 they called my wife in. She waited in the room for another 1/2 hr. then they came and took an x-ray. Then she waited another 1/2 hr for the doctor to come in.

He looked at the x-rays and asked my wife some questions about the injury. He never touched the injury, to "feel" for swelling, lumps, bumps, etc. finally he made a conclusion and my wife was done. So after 5 HOURS and $213 she was told to take it easy on it. Which she had been doing anyway.

SO, in the 5 hrs. it took, according to them, I guess, my wife was the only walk-in and the other 24+ patients were all earlier appointments , since they only do walk-ins after 2:00????
