We love going on Mondays for taco night. They have great service and good food. The food is good everyday but our family enjoys the great tacos.

The Riviera is iconic. The food is the best Mexican food we have ever eaten (and we've eaten tons). Carmen, our server has been there for over 20 years and was so patient as we sifted through the huge menu. Based on her suggestions, we enjoyed a fruit plate, a machaca plate, and tamales con huevos at a late breakfast....

There are a lot of Mexica restaurants in El Paso but when you find one that has been in business as long as the Riviera you know they'll have good food. It's basic, simple and delicious. You won't go wrong with ordering anything on the menu, but I love the tamales (red or green)

The Riviera is a great place to watch football on Saturdays and Sundays. A lot of good people meet up to watch their favorite teams, have breakfast or lunch. The bartenders and Manager are very friendly. They have incredible tacos as their Monday special and they're always busy.

my favorite place in El Paos for Breakfast burritos - and let me tell you, there are lot of choices when it comes to burritos in the El Paso area. If you are a foodie and love a big breakfast like I do, check it out and indulge. You can choose all the toppings you want when you order

Overall

Very relaxed environment with a good menu. I had the red enchiladas with cheese. The sauce was a little plain but still very good. They also have a nice tequila menu. I had two margaritas: el extremo and their house margarita .

Excellent lunch plates and a great deal too! I was in town for business so my El P coworkers took me here and it was delish! I ordered one of the lunch specials and I received a huge plate with a tamale, enchilada, beans, rice and a taco! The taco and enchilada were superb! The enchilada wasn't greasy at all and the beef taco was very flavorful and had nice crunch (the shell - not the beef). My coworkers' meals looked great too. If I return to El P, I will definitely go back!

Oh my many trips to El Paso always consist of a special visit to the Riviera!
Not much to look at, very rinky dink in atmosphere, I have got to say I've never had such outstanding Chile rellenos and Lemonade!

I stopped into Riviera for lunch and really enjoyed it. The restaurant is nothing special to look at - the sign said it's been there since 1948 - but it was clean and has a homey feel. The meal started with tortillla chips and semi-spicy fresh red salsa. I didn't see anything but soft drinks on the menu, but I saw someone else having a can of beer so that's what I ordered. Not sure if they have margaritas.

I ordered the "old green" chile enchiladas, which were full of, and covered by, melted cheese. I wanted more of the tangy sauce, but overall the dish was very good. The rice and refried beans were a nice complement. The portion size was good for the price.

The service was a little on the pokey side, but very pleasant. Overall, a good stop for a relaxed Mexican lunch.

Overall

I want to start by saying, I used to love this restaurant. My recent experience has changed that.

The current chef seems to think that spicy is an adequate substitute for actual flavor and quality of food. Not ONE dish I tried was edible unless one enjoys eating nothing but jalapenos (or other excessively spicy chiles) with a little food on the side. Not a single dish I tried (and I tried several) was actually edible food. It was just spicy on top of spicy without any food taste at all. You know, customers can ADD spice if they want it. The only reason a chef has to pour gallons of chiles in everything in the kitchen is to hide the fact that he/she can’t cook. In contrast to the rest of the menu, the beans, thankfully, had no chiles. They also had NO FLAVOR. Not even bean flavor. I ordered Flan for dessert. In NO universe that I know of, is proper flan made with canned caramel sauce instead of caramelized sugar. It was horrid! No wonder it’s buried under mounds of canned whipped cream.

Worse than the food was the service. First, the waiter dropped off menus and allowed less than 2 minutes to review the menu before coming back - again and again and again and again. Our entire party hadn’t even arrived, but he pressured us to order until we finally ordered out of sheer desperation! When I requested a guacamole without jalapenos, instead of responding to the request in a courteous manner, he chose to 'instruct' me that "guacamole is ALWAYS made with jalapenos!". Having lived more than half my life south of the border, I can say that he is wrong. I explained that I have an allergy to Capsaicin and then asked about the spice and chiles in the enchiladas. He spoke only of sauces and didn't bother to mention the fact that the CHEESE enchiladas are FULL OF HOT CHILES! Not just the sauce, the entire enchilada itself! When I spoke to him about it he, AGAIN argued with me! I finally ordered a simple bowl of beans and some corn tortillas. What I was brought was two small plates of beans! What customer wants to eat two servings of the same food from two different small plates!? Not only that, but he had taken my fork and didn't bring another even after two requests! I had to borrow a spoon from one of my friends to eat the ONLY thing on the menu that was almost edible.
