A Slice of Heaven Delicatessen and More

Just Around the Bend.

Dorris, CA, is a border town 3 miles from the Oregon state line. Part Café, part Gallery, A Slice of Heaven café is easily passed by as it’s located just around a 90 degree bend on CA Hwy 97’s northbound trek or, just before the corner if heading southbound. And it’s nested in the middle of two buildings, one of them, out of business. If you miss it, then turn around. It’s worth it. A gathering place for the locals as well as visitors, Heaven is worth supporting if just for a cup of coffee before the long southbound stretch towards Weed, CA. However, I encourage you to stay for a meal. They offer breakfast through dinner menu items and have a variety of baked goods. Regarding the art and history displays, some are for sale, and some for display only so, PLEASE DON’T TOUCH THE GIRAFF. Not that I know from experience of course. I’m just saying that although kids are more than welcome, but there’s some breakables here and there. I visited for lunch and ordered something not on the menu which they didn’t mind in the least making for me. That’s impressive for a small place and an element of customer service I don’t get that often now-a-days. I will definitely be back. Not just for the food, but to eavesdrop on the latest news from the locals. For, Heaven, is definitely a Slice of Americana as well.
