I came here for a sew in recently and this is the experience that will make me stop with them completely. Never has my scalp ever hurt as badly as it does right now. First off I told my stylist I wanted a partial sew in but she kept being insistsnt on doing more of a full(perimeter braids and all)... After like two or three times of her saying it I just gave in. The stylist herself didn't even do the braiding. She had an unlicensed woman come in to braid my hair and boy did she do it ever braid tight. This woman brought her child in with her who was a little restless but the more irritated she got with the child the tighter she braided. I could feel the heat coming off my scalp along withy the throbbing and I should of just had the actual stylist take it down from there. She was nice enough to offer a Motrin which relieved the pain for a while but then came right back 2 hours after I left the salon. I had to take down the style this morning and already noticed spotting towards my edges luckily the damage doesn't look as if it will be permanent. Even with the braids out my scalp is sore enough to where I can't even comb right now and have to lightly massage to relieve remaining tension. Will not ever be coming back and highly recommend that the salon recruits professional hair dressers. I'm distraught because this was supposed to be a style for my 21st but I'm hoping the pain will subside enough for me to be able to do something with it in the coming days.

This was one of the worst post hair style experiences I have ever had. November 22 Saturday I took my daughter here to get latchhooks with straight hair by Jodi. First I called her and she seemed like she knew what she was doing and she asked me to come at 3p. I told her good I can go home and wash/condition/moisturizer her hair...Jodi then said no being her now and I can do that for 10 dollars extra. I specifically said will you out a moisturizer/oil on her scalp and she said yes. I bought the hair took her to and picked her up about 3 hours later. I specifically told her I need my daughters hair to be full in the front because she has a performance and I purposefully showed her a picture. Upon picking her up my daughter was under the dryer and her hair was not full and there were visible spaces everywhere between her braids. Jodi told me I owed her 60$ plus the 10 I gave her 75$ for her effort. I get home and my daughters scalp is bone dry flaking and her braids under the latch hooks were wet! I in braided one and the hair was so tangled. My daughter then told me the lady washed her hair and just started braiding no conditioner no oil and she barely combed it out. I took the hair style down that night. I have not had an opportunity to revisit the shop I do not live near the salon. I was extremely disappointed. My daughters scalp was so red from the braids and the latchhooks were sliding out. I just wish Jodi would have told me the truth and stated she was unable to do what was asked and I wouldn't have wasted my time or money. I guess she really needed the money funny because her advertisement said she charges 40$ for children's hair not 60. I feel Jodi the natural hairstylist of Modish Salon in Detroit Mi owes me a hairstyle

Stylist Tangie made me feel welcome and comfortable as a first time client. She also did an excellent job on my hair. I will be back.

I've been a loyal customer to Tangie & will continue. She has a cozy neat, clean salon that makes you feel right @ home. She is a great stylist & has very reasonable price. Your In & out, & Tangie never keeps you waiting, or schedules to many clients @ the same time. I have & still am referring everyone i know to see Mrs. Tangie @ Modish Salon.

I recently went to this salon and the owner TANGIE was very nasty, rude, unprofessional and ghetto. She has a very snippy attitude and needs to remember who is paying her. I do not recommend that ANYONE get their hair done by TANGIE or go to this salon. Her prices always change and are inconsistent she speaks rudely and unprofessionally to clients. The experience I had with her was very NEGATIVE.



TANGIE is the most unprofessional stylist I have ever gone to and I am writing this review to warn others of her. She is not worth your time and money she will rip you off with a smile.



Tangie is the worst stylist I have ever been to I am looking forward to replacing this extremely trifling and ghetto hair stylist QUICKLY.

I agree with the review below. Tangie has a very snippy attitude, I also see that she has written a review herself ( see Tangie35) about the salon to boost her rating which is not from from any of her clients. I wonder why?

Find a more professional stylist and go to another salon.

So hard to find a hair salon without a wait. It's one hair stylist Tangie, a Nail Tech and a Loctician, and they ALL get there clients in and out. Seems like every visit soon as I arrive I get in the chair within 5-10 mins of arriving. Always satisfied when I'm done. Highly recommend

I get my hair, manicure and pedicure done. Service is great. There is also a dread lock stylist and African braided. I recommend this place for total beauty service.

The salon was very nice and clean. Tangie is very down to earth and great at holding a conversation. I felt very comfortable chatting with her and her daughter while getting my hair done. I went to her for a wrap. It was a Sunday and all other salons were closed. She normally doesn't work Sundays but said that she would do my hair if I came :) I appreciated that. She is very knowledgeable about hair care so I received many tips on how to maintain my hair. My hair is just past my shoulders (but not even close to the middle of my back) and I was charged extra for its length. I've never had a stylist do that. I came with my hair already washed and blow-dryed, and I still was charged $40. Normally my wraps are $40 with a conditioning wash included, so I expected to pay cheaper. That was my biggest issue. Also, she used a pressing comb. My normal stylist only uses flat irons and it produces a shinier result. I prefer it that way because its less heat and less damaging. She used the comb in addition to the flat irons. This caused heat to rush to my scalp unfortunately. I expected more shine but she did a great job at straightening my hair. I rated the experience 3 stars because of the price and pain.

Very nice Salon. Tangie is the stylist there now and she is excellent with REAL hair. She's always on time with her appointments and wait time is less than 20 minutes. Wonderful and mature environment.
