        We are not your typical VFW Post! VFW Post 1 was named 2014 Denver Chamber of Commerce Non-Profit of the Year! We are the oldest and first VFW Post in the world with the youngest members and the most women members. The VFW is one of the largest and most active veterans organizations in the United States and Post 1 continues the tradition of being on the forefront of service to Veterans and to our country. We actively select programs and partners who assist veterans from WWII to Operation Enduring Freedom. We understand the current-day veteran community is far more diverse than it was 10 years ago, which is why we are committed to gaining new members who are of all ages, genders and conflicts. We want to put services at the forefront of what we do and leave the old stigma of dark, smoky bars that the VFW has been known for in the past. Post 1 supports over 20 Veterans Organizations and attracts five to twenty new members monthly because of the work we do in the community.

        Associations
        Established in 1899. VFW Post 1 is the first and oldest VFW Post in existence. It was founded in 1899 by members of the First Colorado Volunteers returning from the Philippines during the Spanish American War and commanded by General Irving Hale. The first meeting took place in the Colorado State Capitol on Dec. 1, 1899 and the organization has been meeting every month since.
