General Info
Because of my personal family history in my youth, and now my current adult situation, I know how bitter divorce can become. That's why I have been helping families stay out of court and craft agreements that support the families beyond the decree and the traditional scope of mediation. I have been conscientiously gathering as much wisdom I possibly can to help my parties resolve their issues with as little harm as possible through any family conflict. I regularly attend continuing education classes and seminars to learn new ideas and techniques. However, I also keep in mind what I have learned through my past experiences. Combining these two facets of mediation, I believe, gives me an exceptional, if not unique insight into conflict resolution. Jefferson County Mediation Services (JCMS) agrees that the above has helped the parties significantly. JCMS has acknowledged my efforts by naming me the Parenting/Child Support Mediator of the Year 2014, 2015 and 2016. Very humbling. I have lectured for mediation practice groups. I have also been sought out for my innovative ideas by attorneys and non-attorney mediators on how to approach conflict. It is a combination of actively listening to the parties with empathy, attention, and respect that allows the parties to feel understood. Which, in turn, allows them to trust the process, allowing me to resolve their issues. My insight is what makes my approach unparalleled regardless of the practice type employed. My technique is not to use the "same old" ideas that have been proven to be long and drawn out. Instead, it is to resolve differences and support the children in a deescalating environment. Helping families have become my crusade! As retired 18th Judicial District Court Judge Richard Turelli states his mantra every time, I see him; ā€œHow can I help your family?ā€
