Alberts Restaurant

A group of my husband's colleagues (a college department) ate at Albert's Restaurant on a Tuesday night. The bread with herbed butter was excellent, and the tossed salad with entrees was crisp and tart with balsamic dressing. The entrees ordered ranged from vegetarian mushrooms with pasta to chicken piccata to a walleye sandwich to walleye with vegetables to tuna with seasoned rice. My husband said his tuna was good but not as great as "the perfect salmon" the chef used to do. My chicken piccata was delicious, rich with lemon and capers; the pasta appeared to be homemade noodles. The vegetables, cauliflower, broccoli, and carrots, were steamed and ordinary. Since the dish was so filling, I took half the chicken and pasta home and ate it happily for breakfast. The ambience was fine--most of the other customers were middle-aged and well-to-do; I was at one end of the table for nine and it was a bit difficult to hear. The service was friendly and efficient. We like Albert's.
