Stopped by the Edwinola for a tour. They refused to give me a tour and told me that I HAD to make an appointment to see the place. That's not right.

Finally after numerous complaints to staff and the state, The State is doing something about this absolutely horrible place. Rotten and sparse food, medications given at the wrong time or omitted, roaches, mold, rodents have all made this place one of the worse I have ever seen and I have seen many ALFs in my career. I have made phone calls to AHCA and nothing has been done. I have had friends who have made calls to AHCA. We have all wondered if someone was being paid off to avoid any action taken against this place. YES I said that and I mean it. They will probably place most of these patients at their sister facility in Sebring if they have rooms available. It is slightly better. If anyone has family there, make every effort to move your family out. Find something other this place. The owner, former administrator and rest of the management staff deserve to be treated exactly as they treated these poor folks.

The Edwinola is a horrible place. Management doesn't know what they're doing. They are rude to the staff and residents. The building is invested with roaches and bed bugs. The ceilings are falling in. The carpet is disgusting. Residents rooms are invested with roaches so bad that when you open their door, they fall on your head!! Management will set up a few "show rooms" to show to potential residents and their families. The rest of the rooms are gross and dirty. With an exception of a few good employees, none from management the rest of the staff are rude, unprofessional, and lack empathy. The staff is underpaid, their checks are always short, and management talks to the staff as if theyre dogs. The director even walks around barefoot. Ew. Roaches have been found in the food. And just so everyone views any positive reviews were written by management. This place is hell and all management cares about is taking your money. Please, if you love your family do not let them live here.

Edwinola seemed to be improving for a few months towards end of 2012. Had a great marketing director that was really interested in helping all of us residents. It is going downhill again. They can't get rid of the roaches and rats. Staff is just plain mean to the residents and talk to us in a mean tone. If you ask for your medicine and they don't feel like giving it, then they will make you wait. You hear all the time where the cna gave someone the wrong medicine. Food is very bland and serve the same thing over and over. Activities are always the same and really no one participates. The rooms are run down and the walls leak when it rains. The managment is rude and always yelling at staff and even residents. We heard they even failed their yearly licensing inspection. The elevators are small, slow are always breaking down...will close on you while you are getting in. Moved out...would NOT recommend to anyone unless you want to live around rude and incompetent people.

i lived there for awhile, left, and am returning. i do not understand some of the complaints being levied.. people are free to seek higher paying jobs. thefood is plentiful, my room was large and amply furnished, the only drawback is location from new port richey. accomodating staff, caring/understanding management. complaints quickly addressed. for the money, its the best place i've visited.

The Edwinola has gone downhill with the services provided for the residents, they should have closed their doors a long time ago. I feel sorry for anyone that has to live there. Employees apparently must not be paid enough to care because they don't. The place is falling apart and in much need of repairs. Not to mention crawling with bugs. Yuck.

The Edwinola Retirement Community goes over and above for their residents! The staff is very helpful especially the manager. He is a nice and very caring person, along with the rest of the employees. That's why I give it 5 stars!!!

I have looked over quite a few facilities trying to deceide where to have my elderly Mother live. The Edwinola staff was the most helpful in placement and advice for me. I have visited my Mother alot at the facility and she is extremely pleased with the entire place and staff. I have been invited to eat dinner with her and found the food to be extremely good and healthy. My Mother is getting the balanced diet that she requires and has an abundance of things to do and people to visit. This was an extremely hard decision for me and the administrator took the time to help me through it. Thank you to the staff of the Edwinola. It is an older building, but I have visited alot and never have seen any bugs, or things that didn't get fixed within a reasonable amount of time. At my mom's advanced age, she finds alot of things "wrong" and it's just to find out she hadn't turned a water faucet off completely. Things like that.
