Overall
Service

After a long time of waiting to get tape in hair extensions, I finally decided to "just do it". I consulted with my hairdresser at Hot Hair and made an appt. She recommended 3 packs. I chose to try 2 to cut cost. Turned out I did need 3, and in the end purchased 4. I wasn't made aware that each pack only contained 5 extensions. Anyone would know 10 ext would not be enough for anyone's hair. If told I would've gone for 3. I was never given the chance to see or feel the ext prior to the date of service, or given a chance to take part in the color selection. I trusted my hair dresser. The ext were dyed at the base to match my existing root color while on my head and they got stained. They were also never cut properly to blend with my natural hair. They look very obviously fake. I was told to use dish soap to remove the stains since I had a broken ankle and had no one available to take me. I did as advised and they became dry and brittle and the stains remained. The shop offered to replace one pack of 5 ext and remove and put back in the existing ones. I wanted a full refund. They refused. I asked for at least the money back for the haircut and color. They refused. This started in June. I am now the not so proud owner of 20 damaged hair extensions that cost me a lot of money. I can't afford to replace them without a refund of some kind to help cover the cost. I'm not a person to complain. I avoid confrontation and often take it on the chin as a lesson learned. I'm writing this here bc I've referred a lot of people to this salon. You should know that they are not willing to correct things and satisfy a client when they are clearly at fault. The offer to replace 5 out of 20 damaged extensions was ridiculous and resolved nothing. While the staff is great, a mistake was made on their part. Accidents happen. I understand that. My issue is with their inept attempt to fix things and their "my way or the highway" attitude. I'd recommend you to take your business elsewhere.

Overall
Horrible experience!

I made an appointment based on some of the good reviews I had seen about this salon on this website and others. I made an appointment for just a blow dry even though I consistently color and hi-light my hair. I just wanted to get a feel for the staff and salon before I made an appointment for some other services. THANK GOD it was just a blow dry. The parking is almost impossible and when greeted at the desk I wasn't at all. The girl they had booked my appointment with was running over 20 minutes late. When it was my turn to be taken the women just sent me back to sink with also no greeting or introduction. She smelled of cigarettes and proceeded to use her cell phone right in the middle of my service. DO NOT BOOK with this salon if your looking for a salon who has great customer care!

In response to the complaint we received on 01/21/13, we were, of course, disappointed, and appreciate the opportunity to respond. Our parking situation can be difficult at times. It’s unfortunate that Brookhaven Town only allows “X” amount of parking spaces based on the square footage of the building. Our hairdressers have a very strong following which at times leads to cramped parking. Though a Co-owner of the salon, I also wear the hat of “valet” if necessary and never have a problem parking or retrieving a car for any of our clients. With regards to the “non-greeting” when you entered our establishment, I am at the front desk a minimum of 8 hours per day and pride myself on greeting each of our clients personally. Upon your arrival, I was busy with another client who was checking out, but I assure you that you were not intentionally ignored. We are real sticklers for prompt scheduling, however, there may be an occasional glitch; when a client comes in for a wash/cut/blow out and, unbeknownst to us, their hair is thick or long, it may require additional time and that will throw our schedule off, which was exactly the case the day you came in for your blow out with Liz. We are aware that your time is just as valuable as ours which was why I advised you shortly after you took a seat that we were running 20 minutes behind schedule. My business partner Tracey and I spoke with Liz regarding your review and addressed the cigarette smell and use of the cell phone. She was extremely apologetic and sincerely did not mean to offend you. She is a talented, friendly hairdresser and an asset to our Hot Hair family. We are very proud of our 4 and 5 star reviews at this, and various other websites and are hopeful that your recent experience at Hot Hair does not discourage you from giving us another try.

Overall
Strongly recommended

I was recommended by my friend who goes to the salon for more than 20 years. The salon co-owner Val is very friendly to customers. I always go to Lynn for my hair cut. Lynn has excellent communication skill and cut my hair exactly as what I wanted.
