WORST HOSPITAL EVER! MAKE SUR...

WORST HOSPITAL EVER! MAKE SURE YOU TELL THEM YOU ARE NOT RICH SINCE THE BEGINNING AND DON'T ALLOW THEM TO GIVE YOU THE GUILT TRIP!

I took my Yorkie in 2009 to this place with the same very bad cold symptoms and they prescribed antibiotics, they were pricey at that time, but still affordable. This time I decided to try them again, should have checked the reviews first before going.

After the Dr. takes a look at my dog, she comes in the room and tells me that my dog is getting oxygen (without my consent) and that she needs to stay overnight to get more oxygen (she wasn't sure for how long, a minimum of a day, which cost approximately of $75 per hour). She handed me a long list that included many, many different tests to check fluids in her lungs, heart, blood work, x-rays, she started talking about the possibility of this being related to cancer. Estimate total is over $3000. I couldn't believe she was serious.

I explained to the Dr that I am currently not working and that I won't be able to afford this. She started trying to make me feel bad since that my dog can die due to her age (she is already 13 years old). I explained to her that my dog gets twice a year this same kind of condition that I am aware is very common in Yorkies, that she has always been treated for the same problem, to please prescribe her the usual antibiotics. She insisted on the tests and actually came down to about $900, but I was firm telling her that I still couldn't afford it and that I would prefer to take my dog to someplace else more affordable in Miami.

She goes to get my dog and then comes back with a sad face telling me that when she tried to remove the oxygen, my dog suddenly turned purple, that she might not make it to Miami, she will pass away before that, she believes that it will be better for me to allow them to put her to sleep. I told her that I couldn't understand what's going on since my dog was running to the door trying to go out this morning and she seemed only congested. She insisted on making me feel very guilty for my decision of putting her life at risk.

Finally they bring my dog back and another lady comes and starts talking about my options of applying for Care Credit to cover the expenses and later about euthanasia since according to her my dog was suffering, since I refused, she asked me to sign a document saying that I have been informed of the risk and will waive liability from them if my dog dies. My dog looks dizzy, not sure what she has been through, but she looks even more ill than when I brought her. I was charged about $170, including one hour of oxygen.

I took my dog to Miami, the Dr never mentioned anything about putting her to sleep, no overnight stay, no oxygen required, gave her two shots, prescribed antibiotics and something for the cough. At the clinic she started feeling better and she even spitted some of the phlegm. Total cost $169. Now like 4 hours later, she is sleeping and sounding much better. Thanks God!!

Someone should put a stop to this "Hospital", you would think that in a Hospital people will tend to be more honest, but definitely not this one. They're just trying to take advantage and ripping you off in any way they can. They deserve zero stars.

Professionalism

I can not offer high enough praise for Coral Springs Animal Hospital. In 36 hours my pup was as playful and happy as ever. Meanwhile, a different local hospital said he might be at death’s door. 24 hour visiting hours and the kindest, most empathetic staff I have ever met both during his stay and afterwards. They’re miracle workers, worth every penny, and treat you like family from the moment you walk in the door.

Rip off on prices --- Over Diagnosed simple issues to get money!

Although I had to go there on 2 occasions (my kitty needed to have the FVCP vaccine which is done in 3 installments) -- the first vet we saw was very lovely -- although they DID NOT fully honor a 'gift certificate" I received that was issued BY THEM as a prize at a 'adoption weekend" event I attended... the certificate clearly stated it was for the first exam , shots, etc.... but I still had to pay out over $80 ----- the second time we went to follow up to get the second shot we had to see a different vet. Dr Harrison is HORRID -- she is unprofessional and all she cares about is MONEY. They NEVER discuss pricing or options with you when you are in the exam room. I went in for a $29 vaccine and when I got to the check out, they said I owed them $240 ---- all because this Vet used a black light on my kitty because she felt he had some 'skin' thing like ringworm -- which he NEVER got...--- she ordered this bath remedy and the black light and that cost over $200??? She is HORRID...save yourself time, money and aggravation and go to a VCA animal clinic instead.... they are the way to go!!

Caring Expertise

Thank you to all of the doctors and nurses at Coral Springs Animal Hospital! I've never met such a caring and knowledgeable group of people. My cat Oreo is feeling much better after her accident and has recovered fully.

When first arriving at the facility, I thought that there would be little or no personal attention because it's so big. But because this was an emergency, I did not care... Thankfully, the opposite is true. Dr. Hardy and Dr. Barra did an excellent job and keep me informed at all times. They followed up with me personally after the procedure and you could tell they really care - they're not just doing their job.

Forever grateful,

M. Behr

Specialists

I have only dealt with one of the vets there and I was referred by my normal vet to see Dr. Sawyer. My dog had an atypical presentation of an autoimmune disease. While the initial diagnosis and treatment was quite expensive and probably 50% higher than a similar procedure at my regular vet, they have been very good about only having yearly checkups where the office visit of the specialist is about 3 times a regular vet visit. Plus, Dr. Sawyer has been very good about helping to keep the treatment costs down and sending prescriptions to a regular pharmacy as well as my regular vet. Bottom line to me is that all 24/7 offices have higher cost and tend to have multiple specialists as well. Another similar practice in Cooper City has a heart specialist when another of my dogs needed evaluation. Their costs were equally high. The bottom line is that every pet owner has to make a decision as to what is "medically necessary" and when treatment is of little value. The area of vet specialists seems to be new and there is little competition at this point. As more owners demand these sorts of specialists, the market will bring the costs down. But, just as I would not go to a plastic surgeon to get a cut stitched, there are people who do and will willingly pay the costs associated with it. I always tell people that it is possible to survive on almost any food budget. But, the less money you have, the more work and effort it takes to stay within it. A person always has the option to go to a different vet and shop around until you get a good price and service for your money. But, you may need to drive a half hour instead of around the block for it.
