General Info
The Columbus Environmental Health Division offers a variety of programs to prevent diseases and injuries associated with food, water, air, animals, and hazardous materials and waste. Additionally, its areas of responsibility include issuing retail food licenses to commercial and nonprofit facilities offering prepared and packaged food; conducting inspections for restaurants and food establishments; and investigating food and food-borne illness complaints. The Columbus Environmental Health Division is also responsible for providing food safety education workshops for food operators and food handlers; performing public swimming pool and spa inspections; investigating animal bites and dangerous animal complaints, and conducting rabies vaccination clinics. In addition, it investigates hazardous waste complaints, inspects maternity hospitals and institutions for relicensure and provides control and abatement programs for mosquitoes and other disease-carrying pests. The division is located in Columbus, Ohio.
