Great Service, Fair Price

The service I received from Touba African Hair Braiding was very professional. The salon is a nice environment. The hours of operation are very flexible. Hair braiders in the salon were polite and efficient. Braids keep well; price point was competitive.

On the downside, the service began about 20 minutes after my appointment time. This factor was offset by the fact that Touba finished work about 1.5 hours faster than similar work I had done with other salons.

I went to the shop early Monday morning to get my hair done. I was told to be there at 9:00 however no one showed up until 9:45 am. Once the owner "MA" opened the shop I still had to wait twenty minutes before the lady during my hair showed up. I was excited about getting Kinky Twist. MA explained to the lady during my hair that I was paying extra ($20) to have the braids closer together which totaled to $200.00. The first lady with the afro did an excellent job around the edges. Then another lady started on my hair I explained to her that I was paying extra. Well the lady with the afro had to leave several times which left the other lady alone in my hair. Well the hair was finished I was unable to look in detail because it was painful. When I got home I looked at the scalp, I had LARGE parts. The parts were so large that hair was coming out of the braids on the first day in the middle. I called and calmly told my concerns with MA. She seemed upset that I even called. I would NEVER refer their services to anyone. I felt like the store ripped me off!!

IT is now week three and my briads looked like I had it for FOUR MONTHS!

I called the shop when they opened at 9 am to see if someone could get me in the same afternoon for two Ghana braids. I was told their was an opening at 2pm so I made the appointment. I got to the shop early, was told to have & seat and that it would be just a few minutes. 5 minutes later I was asked if I could come back at 5pm, I told them no because I had prior plans. I was not offered to reschedule, just that I had to call. Horrible service, no customer service.

I had an appointment at 9am on 6/15/13 upon arrival there were about 10 people who had appointments at 9 as well. This place was very unprofessional, the stylists were having very loud conversations among themselves in their language, often stopping braiding to talk with each other, she even stopped to run errands in the middle of braiding. I ended up staying there until 10:30 pm, which was absolutely ridiculous. I went there to get micros done, but they told me that because my hair was long and they would have to braid all the way down and it would cost extra than the $230, so she suggested very small box braids, about a week later braids started coming out around the edges along with my hair. I would not recommend this place to anyone, entirely too much money for the unprofessional service I received.

this was the worst braiding ex...

this was the worst braiding experience of my life i got my hair done on a tuesday 10/9, by thursday i was loosing braids. didnt think a whole lot of it bc it was on my edges and i didnt want them pulled out so i let it ride, then the following week i was loosing braids in the back thats when i called and they told me to come back that was on a friday. she was supposed to fix all of the slipping braids to my surprise she did not, she also told me that my hair grew out that's why they were slipping in a week in a half?? prob not!! so that next monday i went back not even two weeks old mind you, the braider said she would fix them but nxt time (if you did your job properly why would there be a next time??)bc its been two weeks i would have to pay for a retouch.. pissed is an understatement. she proceeded to rebraid the ones that slipped out and some that were on the way out. now on 10/31 my hair looks 2/3 mths old. granted my hair grows at a pretty good rate, however for me to pay 230.00 i expected A LOT more. I'm gonna go back one last time to have these things fixed by a different braider and then that's it, i feel ripped off, and the level of cust srv i should be getting with this mess is not up to par. would i sugges going HECK NO, not worth your money, takes too long, AND such a waste of time have to go back now a 4th time its just ridic!!! the system would not let me submit this w/o a star rating that's the only reason i selected 1, if i could have left it blank or put neg 5 stars i would

horrible service!!!!!!!!!

I made my appointment at Touba a week in advance for seven am, because I know I have a lot of hair and it usually takes a while. I arrived at the salon 15 minutes before my appointment and was told I would have to wait for my braider because she didn't leave the shop until late the night before and she was running late. I understood, because I was already a little early. While sitting in the salon there was at least two walk ins who were serviced before me because the girl who was supposed to do my hair needed her sleep. So two hours went by and my braider still did not show up and I couldn't leave because u was dropped off. People that came after me were already one fourth of the way through. My braider did not show up until a quarter til eleven. While being serviced the girl took about four unecessary breaks. I asked beforehand when I called if the hair they used was human, because I knew I was going to the beach and would be getting in water. I was assured that it was. Well I was the last one from the morning crowd left in the shop and I was finished at eight pm. By the way they didn't have the color hair I needed. But anyways at the end of my service I took my money out to pay and I was sure that I would get a discount because I had to wait so long, but instead they tagged on an extra twenty dollars that I did not bring with me because they had already to me the price. My braids were the largest braids for one eighty but they said because I had so much hair they had to charge me more, so I had to ask my friend to borrow the money when she got there. After I paid they told me no heat and no water i was very disappointed I could not enjoy the water that weekend. After all of the bad my braids did look very good, and they lasted for three months, but the service was horrible. Service is very important to me so i won't be going back.

My personal experience with Touba's braiding was excellent service and the braids last a long time. Hair did not come out on edges because she knew just how to braid the hair. Would recommend to anyone.

Absolute Superb!

It's simple yall...If you want PROFESSIONAL QUALITY SERVICE at an unbeatable price then this is the place for you! I got my hair braided this past Friday (August 8, 2008), and I got micro braids. Usually when you think of micro braids you assume that it is an all day thing, but not with them. I mean not only are these beautiful ladies professional but fast! Within 8.5 hours I had a full head of micro braids. I can't even begin to tell you just how many compliments I have received on them. The staff members of Touba made the enviroment very relaxing and hospitable for its clients. After this experience I know without question that I will not go anywhere else but to TOUBA to have my hair done! If I had to rate this shop on a scale of 1 to 10, I would have to give them an 11, LITERALLY. They top the charts, the best that I have come across yet. To my stylist, MARIA (as well as her friend whose name I didn't get) I love you ladies. Keep doing what you do, making us black sisters look HOT!
