If you want slow service, poor...

If you want slow service, poor customer service, cold food or raw meat, go to Chelsea's. The venue was nice and the server kept a smile on his face the entire night, however. . .we were told there was no shrimp. (I thought this was a seafood restaurant). That pretty much nixed, a third of the menu. There was no spinach, so that counted out some of the salads. They were also out of 3 dressings. One of my guests ordered wings that came out cold. Another guest ordered a burger that was not cooked all the way. Lo and behold, another guest was brought a salad that had shrimp on it. When I asked the server, where did the shrimp come from, he told me there was a secret stash. Really?!?!? This so called salad was made with shredded iceberg letuce with a few shrimp sprinkled on top. No tomatoes, no dressing and they charged $12!!!! When the manager came out, as requested, she came in with an attitude and so graciously took off $1.65 and explained that she was doing a favor!! The owner finally came out and took care of everything but after half of my party had so many issues, he should have come in and apologized for all the mishaps in the first place. I would not recommend this place to anybody I call a friend.

i was thereon friand was very disappointed,,,i was lunch guest at 1145,,no lunch menu only menu was rattled of by the server, maybe 5 choices,,anyway we ordered tuna fish sandwiches,,she asked if we wanted fries i said no,,,the sandwich arrives with just a piece of lettuce and tomato on the side and sprinkled parsley? around the plate, hey im from nyc at least a pickle and some cole slaw ,,,and the bill arrives 9.95 for a sandwich,,i thought i was in nyc,,,but glory no im in sc..i was appalled,,,i was wondering if i had ordered the fries would that have been extra? hey a word of warning...print a menu.have more to offer ,,i know u are near the court house but with ur prices and very limited items you are going to sink not swim..if i ever get back to columbia i will not venture here,

AS A FORMER EMPLOYEE PRIOR TO THE OPENING OF THE RESTAURANT, I WOULD THINK TWICE ABOUT DINING AT THE FACILITY. THE STAFF IS SEEDY, AND SO ARE THE OWNERS, ROCHELLE DEAN OF ABC NEW AT WOLO IN COLUMBIA, AND HER HUSBAND CURTIS ATKINS. WHEN YOU WORK 12 HOURS A DAY AS MARKETING DIRECTOR, TO PROMOTE THE RESTAURANT, AND DESIGN MENU'S, SOFT OPENING INVITATIONS, WORK WITH THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE FOR THE SOFT OPENING, AND THE INFORMATIONAL BOOKLET FOR THE RESTAURANT AND YOU DON'T GET YOUR PAY. THE OWNERS DID THIS TO SEVERAL INDIVIDUALS IN THE WEEKS PRIOR TO THE OPENING OF THE RESTAURANT. THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA DEPARTMENT OF WAGE AND LABOR WILL NOT MAKE THE OWNERS PAY WHAT THEY OWE, AND THEY APPARENTLY THINK THIS IS ACCEPTABLE. IT IS A SAD STATE OF AFFAIRS WHEN THE CITY OF COLUMBIA ENDORSES THIS BEHAVIOR FROM THEIR BUSINESS OWNERS. IT IS MY RECOMMENDATION NOT TO ENDORSE THIS RESTAURANT ON THE SOLE PURPOSE THAT THEY HIRED A 28 YEAR QUALIFIED CHEF FOR WHOM THEY DID NOT PAY, A QUALIFIED MARKETING DIRECTOR FOR WHOM THEY DID NOT PAY, AND A FRONT OF THE HOUSE MANAGER/LOUNGE MANAGER THAT THEY DID NOT PAY. EACH ONE OF THESE INDIVIDUALS LEFT JOBS FOR HIS OPPORTUNITY AND THIS IS HOW CURTIS AND ROCHELLE DEAN ATKINS TREATED THE VERY PEOPLE WHO WORKED FROM DAYLIGHT TO NIGHT GETTING THEIR RESTAURANT UP AND RUNNING FOR BUSINESS. SHAME ON THE CITY OF COLUMBIA AND THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA FOR ALLOWING THIS TO HAPPEN IN YOUR STATE.

Save your money! My friend and I visited the restaurant today, and the ambience was very nice. However, immediately, there were issues. The first was the wait staff. They seemed to be of "questionable" character, and the suggestions that the waitress made lead me to believe they had never worked in a nicer/upscale restaurant before. For example, one of the waiters suggested that my friend ask for Thousand Island dressing with the quesadillas that he ordered #classless. Second, my friend was bitten by a mosquito twice, and we saw a spider crawling on the floor near our table. Third, the food was not prepared with fresh ingredients. I had the special, and I could taste that it had been previously frozen. Fourth, the food took and extremely long time to come out and it was not as hot as it should have been. Fifth, after asking for the check, it took about ten minutes for the waiter to bring my ticket back to me, and I was there during lunch time. Once the waiter returned, he had scanned my card, but did not provide receipt that would allow me to leave a tip, which I intended on leaving. The overall experience was not memorable, and I would not recommend this place to anyone that I know at this time. If the wait staff is “upgraded,” the lunch menu is a little more “creative,” and the speed of service improves, I may consider giving this place another shot due to the ambience and location.
