I've had three pieces done here. Two of the three are part of a half sleeve and are great. James Ashby did both of those and did a fantastic job. I would recommend him to anyone. However, the other piece I have was less than satisfactory so I've had mixed experiences. As far as being sanitary I'd say they do pretty well.

I have lots of tattoo experince and for once I wanted to simply walk into a shop, and if I had a good feeling with the artist, I'd go under the needle. So, recently I got the itch and since 5 points tattoo was busy I assumed it was a good and safe shop. So, I'm greeted by a upper 20's artist. This guy had lots of tats himself. He was very stuck up, but aren't many artists. He quickly drew what I wanted. The sketch made me wonder if this guy was actually an artist or now. I tried looking him up on my iphone and could not find anything. We came to a final sketch and we began on my upper hip.
Now, by no means am I a flirt but this jerk would not stop looking at me in a funny way. It was making me feel very ackward. Then he began making comments about us hooking up. I told him I was not interested but he didnt give up. And he wasn't joking because this guy never smiles and did all this with a straight face. While he was tattooing me I just keep thinking that this would be over soon.
The tattoo was a 4/10 in my book. Surely a art class student in high school could have done better work.
Advice:
1) Research your artist (I always do this, but broke my own rule and didn't this time)
2) Don't make any assumptions. This place looked busy so I assumed the locals thought of this as a good place
3) Give feedback so others can learn from your experiences
I really wish I read some of these reviews first and I would have never set foot into this shop.

I went off of Google reviews, acc most were ok. I'm from Massachusetts, where it's not hard to find a great artist. my tattoo honestly looks like they used disappearing ink. I wish I could upload a pic and prove it, but don't make the mistake I did. Oh, one last thing as my session was coming to a close he laughed and said he was drunk, then proceeded to pull out a jug off some type of alcohol. I should've complained then and there, but I didn't want to maybe have him fired. In hindsight, I should have.

I went here to get my first tattoo, a simple yin yang on my ribcage. I got a small dark-haired girl who had the worst attitude. She told my friend that she couldn't film it or take pictures while I was getting the tattoo. She actually cursed at me for moving slightly. The tattoo came out terrible. The artist who did my second tattoo looked at it and said it was aweful work because she scarred me. Its only a few months old and needs to be completely redone. Don't waste your time or money!!

Dirty shop, rude, unprofessional "artists" who do inconsistent work. If you'd like to minimize your chances of getting an infection, giving money to jerks, or getting a bad permanent piece of skin art, go somewhere else.

I walked in this sorry excuse of a tattoo shop during the St. Patrick's Day 09 celebration in 5 Points and actually saw a tattoo artist put his machine down and do a shot... with his gloves on. Nice tattoo shop.

I have had all my tats done here. And my fav artist there is Evan-he is so cool and down to earth and an amazing artist. I would never go anywhere else. They are a little more expensive than some other places, but you have to pay for quality work. If you want a cheap tat, go somewhere else, and you will get cheap work. AND TO THE DUMB PERSON WHO SAID THEY GOT AN INFECTION-MAYBE YOU DIDN'T TAKE CARE OF YOUR TATTOO PROPERLY, EVER THINK OF THAT? B/c when I got mine done-and everybody else I know who got one there, they are EXTREMELY sanitary-even demonstrating where they get their new needles from and where they dispose of them. And they demonstrate how to take care of your tattoos, so MAYBE YOU WEREN'T PAYING ATTENTION- OR JUST TOOK THE DUMB ADVICE OF PEOPLE WHO ALREADY GOT TATS AND THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT THEY WERE TALKING ABOUT...anyways...I defintely recommend this place, and if you can, ask for Evan or Binky! :)

I got my 1st tattoo here earlier this year and I was so impressed by the tattoo and the experience that I have been back 3 times since. My favorite artist there is Evan ( nice guy w/ long gray pony tail-He did the two Katana tats on my wrists). He is awesome. Their prices are good considering their work is so great. I definitely suggest people to go there! And for the people who are saying they aren't sanitary...you are crazy b/c all the people that have done my work have been extremely sanitary and professional. And when you go there you will definitely feel welcome and comfortable.

this is the most unprofesional shop id ever seen! the owner doesnt even tattoo, his general manager (turner) is a ego maniac, and a pervert! married with kids and still hitting on me! what the F--K!? I never saw an artist wash there hands, useing exsam gloves instead of sterile like the law requires! i didnt have my ID so thay used one that thay keep on file! yes thay have peoples military ID's copied so thay can use them on under age people. my advice, RUN!

The guy who checks you in and prices the tattoo doesn't even do any tattooing - it was a little impersonal and they were a little pushy. The guy who inked my friend kept trying to put his on backwards, and mine didn't come out even close to the color I had wanted. It was a bit disappointing, but my tattoo artist was very nice.

This was the most disgusting place I have set foot in ever. There were artists sharing booths and cross contamination all over the place. I did not get tattooed here because of the pushy and rude staff, poor quality of work and again the cross contamination going on. No thanks I will pass on the Hepatitus with my tattoo.

This listing is for 5 point custom tattoo and is not for Unique Ink. Unique Ink is at 2301 Bush River Road Unit C. Maybe Yellowpages. com can get this corrected !!!!!

I had never gone to a professional before I went here. And it was way cooler because the people were extremely nice and funny. And they put me at ease and to be honest I felt alot safer with the equipment that was used as opposed to my homeboys tools. Not to mention that when I went in there I already had an idea of what I wanted but when I got there they had soooo many ideas to chose from that it took me like 45 minutes to decide. The tattoo guy was really helpful about where to put it and how big to make it so it wouldn't look like garbage as it got older. I wish I could remember the name of the guy that did my tattoo (Bill?) but he was cool as a mutha and he did an excellent job!! I'll definately be going back to get more work done. I tell my friends that it's the ONLY place to go. 5 Points Custom Tattoo kicks butt!!!!
