Pediatric Care
Pediatrics: Full diagnostic pediatric imaging is performed by a fellowship-trained radiologist. US (ultrasound), MRI, CT with radiation dose reduction, fluoroscopy, GI (gastrointestinal), and GU (genitourinary) diagnostic procedures, x-rays. This includes MRI and CT procedures performed with sedation monitored by board-certified anesthesiologists at St. Josephs Hospital. We perform congenital pediatric cardiac / chest MRI and MRA (MR angiogram) imaging.
Colonoscopy
CT (computed tomography): All of the Cat Scan services are provided including, heart, coronary, chest, abdomen, pelvis, extremity, vascular, and brain. This includes CT perfusion and CT angiograms. CT enterography (Cat Scan of the small bowel) and CT Colonography (Virtual Colonoscopy). CT with Cat Scan radiation dose reduction. Two Level 3 certified and Cardiovascular Board Certified Radiologists who interpret Cardiac/Coronary artery CT angiograms, performed on our 64 slice scanner at St Joseph’s Ambulatory Imaging, Clifton, NJ, and 64 slice, dual-source scanner at Hackensack Meridian Health Mountainside Medical Center. We perform CT of all joints: finger, wrist, hand, elbow, etc. including 3D images.

Warren B. Freitag, M.D., went to Medical School at Downstate, Brooklyn, NY. He completed three years of Internal Medicine at Albert Einstein West Campus at Montefiore Hospital and Medical Center and is ABIM certified. He is a former Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine at Albert Einstein and ER Attending for five years. Dr.Freitag completed a Radiology Residency and Fellowship training in Body Imaging at the University of Pittsburgh.
Kidney Stones
Plain Medical X-rays are useful in the detection of pathology of the skeletal system as well as for detecting some disease processes in soft tissue. Some notable examples are the very common chest X-ray, which can be used to identify lung diseases such as pneumonia, lung cancer or pulmonary edema, and the abdominal X-ray, which can detect intestinal obstruction, free air (from visceral perforations) and free fluid (in ascites). X-rays may also be used to detect pathology such as gallstones (which are rarely radiopaque) or kidney stones which are often (but not always) visible. Traditional plain X-rays are less useful in the imaging of soft tissues such as the brain or muscle. X-rays are also commonly used in dentistry, as X-ray imaging is useful in the diagnoses of common oral problems, such as cavities.

Since its introduction in the 1970’s, CT has become and important tool in medical imaging to supplement X-rays and medical ultrasonography. It has more recently been used for preventive medicine or screening for disease, for example CT colonography for patients with a high risk of colon cancer, or full-motion heart scans for patients with high risk of heart disease.

Following his medicine internship at Mount Sinai in Manhattan, he attended Columbia University Medical Center/New York Presbyterian Hospital for radiology residency and served as chief resident. He went on to complete his training at CUMC/NYPH with a fellowship in Vascular and Interventional Radiology (IR) where he received comprehensive training in a plethora of interventions, including biopsies, drainages, and vascular access as well as advanced procedures such as complex biliary interventions, dialysis interventions, percutaneous ablations, and transarterial chemoembolization. He is a member of multiple professional organizations, including the Society of Interventional Radiology, the American Medical Association, the ACR, the ABR and Sigma Xi (the scientific research society). Furthermore, he is an authorized user in Nuclear Medicine and performs radioactive iodine ablation for thyroid disease. Dr. Kraus is dedicated to providing comprehensive, compassionate care to all his patients and strives to promote humanism in medicine.
Thyroid Cancer
Patrick J. Conte, M.D. graduated from Stritch School of Medicine of Loyola University, Chicago, IL. He was trained in Radiology and Nuclear Medicine at Upstate Medical Center, SUNY, in Syracuse, NY. He is certified by the American Board of General Radiology, the American Board of Nuclear Medicine, and the American Board of Diagnostic Radiology with Special Competence in Nuclear Radiology. He is the former Chief of Nuclear Medicine at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ, the former Medical Director of the Medical Imaging Department at St. Michael Medical Center in Newark, NJ, and is currently the Chief of Nuclear Medicine at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center located in Paterson, NJ. He has special expertise in FDG PET/CT scanning, and radioactive iodine (I-131) treatment of hyperthyroidism and thyroid cancer.

MRI and MRA of the kidneys for renal artery stenosis. Fetal MRI. 2nd and 3rd trimester MRI for placenta and high risk OB/GYN. MRI enterography (MRI of the gastrointesitnal tract). Specialized MRI of the pelvis for uterus, ovaries, prostate. Advanced Neuroimaging of brain, IACs (Internal Acoustic Canal), pituitary, seizure, neck, brachial plexus and spine imaging. MRI spectroscopy and perfusion imaging. Advanced stroke imaging including CT perfusion.

Our Radiologists are American Board of Radiology (ABR) certified. Our radiologists trained at some of the top Medical Centers in the country, including Weill Cornell Medical Center, NY Presbyterian Columbia, Brown, and University of California in San Diego.

Nuclear Medicine: All aspects of Nuclear Medicine are performed including: PET/CT, Thyroid, Bone, Body, Neuroendocrine. Thyroid nuclear medicine treatment.
Mammography
The newest mammographic technology available is 3D Tomosynthesis mammography, also known as Digital Breast Tomosynthesis (DBT). In traditional, 2D mammography, cancers can be obscured by overlapping breast parenchyma. DBT creates thin, overlapping images throughout the breast, which allows improved detection of breast cancer, particularly in women with dense breasts. Also, DBT has been proven to decrease the number of unnecessary secondary visits for additional imaging. Remarkably, these benefits can be achieved with only a minimal increase in the amount of radiation dose administered to the patient and minimal to no change in the patient’s mammographic experience.
Computed Tomography
Part of the danger in that job is hidden and silent but just as deadly as any terrorist attach. Cardiac soft plaque is not easily detected and can be deadly. This type of arterial plaque is a soft fatty material that collects on the artery walls. Stress tests and ECGs will not show if there is soft plaque in the vessels. You probably remember the untimely death of NBC anchor Tim Russert, who dropped dead from a heart attack one month after passing his stress test with flying colors. We now use an ultra fast Cardiac CT scan to look into the vessels and see if and how much dangerous soft plaque is present. This allows for the aggressive treatment of the condition before a major cardiac event.
Interventional Radiology
Our Interventional Radiology physicians deliver expertise in all areas of minimally invasive medicine, including liver disease and cancer, arterial and venous conditions, musculoskeletal treatments, gynecological conditions and dialysis access.

Orthopedics
X-ray, MRI arthrograms, joint pain management/injection (shoulder, hip, knee, ankle, wrist, thumb, sacroiliac, acromioclavicular, etc.). Biopsies of bone and spine are performed at St. Joseph’s and Hackensack Meridian Health Mountainside Medical Center. Hip US (ultrasound), US-guided procedures are performed at Clifton office, St Joseph’s Hospital, and Hackensack Meridian Health Mountainside Medical Center as well as dynamic patellar tracking study / patellofemoral dysplasia. We hold the CMRS (Clinical Magnetic Resonance Society) certifications in MRI of Brain/Neck, Orthopedics, Spine, and Body. We do over 600 joint injections a year, including steroid injections and contrast injections for CT and MR arthrography.

Lesions
Our facilities are equipped to perform all forms of breast biopsy, including stereotactic guided, tomosynthesis guided, ultrasound-guided, and MRI guided core biopsies. Our equipment is state of the art, and our physician expertise ensures adequate sampling of suspicious lesions. In addition, our minimally invasive techniques allow sampling to occur with the lowest level of patient discomfort.
