Steiniger, Joseph R, MD

I am a tonsil cancer survivor and due to radiation and chemo endured 8 1/2 yrs ago, I have serious swallowing issues that arise over time. I moved from IL where I had been under the care of a wonderful ENT but had difficulty finding an ENT who was knowledgeable in cancer after moving to FL. I was at a point of only being able to eat soft foods like mashed potatoes and soups (no meats) for the past year. A GI doctor did a balloon dilation on me which did not work. I was aspirating with almost every bite. Then I found Dr. Steiniger. I made an apt for a Fri and we scheduled a rigid dilation for the following Wed (3 rigid dilations done in IL in past years were successful). I was eating within days and even meat within a week. The GI doctor wanted to insert a feeding tube which, according to him, I would have been on for life. Instead, I am eating and enjoying food. Dr. Steiniger is thorough, knowledgeable, and compassionate - all excellent traits we hope to find in our doctors.
