General Info: Unemployment Insurance is an employer-funded program that provides temporary income replacement for individual workers. The program restores old jobs, creates new jobs, and maintains financial security and support. It is funded by the federal government and state employment security agencies. Unemployment Insurance provides services to individuals who are temporarily and permanently out of a job. The program includes yearly and partial benefits. It is operated by the Illinois Department of Employment Security. The department organizes several events that include seminars and job fairs. In addition, it provides free legal services to small employers. The Illinois Department of Employment Security maintains more than 10 locations throughout Illinois, including Chicago.
